OK, got a little bored with Percy Jackson, and since Ann S. was nice enough to lend me her copy, I started...and could NOT stop. I LOVE this character's voice, and I totally see why this story is so engaging. I've never read a better blow by blow account of love coming to fruition. Very nicely done, and Miranda, you need to bring me your copies of 2, 3, and 4 to borrow over the break.

I found the story compelling, but not really until the last third of the novel. The setting was interesting, particularly since I've spent some time in Washington. It was the writing itself that seemed somehow lacking. It struck me as overly simplistic and repetitive, and at times, fairly stiff. I'll be interested to see if the next book reads the same way. ...more
