Shelves: historical-romance, own, delirity-challenges, 2011

I really had to take my time with this book. It was one of those ones where you can only take so much before you have to put it down and move on to something a little less heavy.

Jacob is a veterinary student about to take his final exams when he discovers that his parents have been killed in a car accident. He runs away and somehow ends up with a traveling circus. Water for Elephants is an amazing book! It is a look at an old-time circus from the point of view of a nonagenarian who worked in one for many years. The human story that unfolds just keeps the reader turning pages, while the view of what a circus was really like was fascinating.
