LOVED IT! A POWERFUL, THOUGHT-PROVOKING NOVELLA!!

The “Inside Out Series” is one of my all-time favorite series. I feel connected to many of the characters in a way I don’t often feel in other similar books. Yet Mark has always been an enigma; my feelings towards him, conflicted.

Most of what I know of Mark has come from the observations of others—Rebecca, Chris, Sara… But “My Hunger” offered me the opportunity to get inside Mark’s head; to discover the part of him that he keeps hidden--to help me LOVED IT! A POWERFUL, THOUGHT-PROVOKING NOVELLA!!

The “Inside Out Series” is one of my all-time favorite series. I feel connected to many of the characters in a way I don’t often feel in other similar books. Yet Mark has always been an enigma; my feelings towards him, conflicted.

Most of what I know of Mark has come from the observations of others—Rebecca, Chris, Sara… But “My Hunger” offered me the opportunity to get inside Mark’s head; to discover the part of him that he keeps hidden--to help me discern who Mark really is. Did I even like Mark? Up until this point, I wasn’t sure that I did.

Reading “My Hunger” gave me a better insight into the many facets that make up Mark. I learned of the internal battle that he fights on a daily basis. I read how he struggles with his feelings towards Rebecca and the truth behind her disappearance. I empathized with the way Mark carries the truth on his shoulders--the guilt a powerful weight crushing down on him, making him second-guess himself and his actions.

Always in control, Mark finds himself lost and uncharacteristically out of control. Still reeling from the recent events that played out between Ava and Sara and the shocking revelations that subsequently occurred, Mark is now faced with having to deal with his mother’s illness. The thought of losing his mother to cancer stirs up feelings of fear that Mark is unprepared to deal with.

Already struggling to keep his emotions in check, Mark finds solace in the arms of a very unlikely companion—Crystal Smith. Crystal works for Riptide and is very close to Mark’s mother. Not only is Crystal beautiful and smart, but she’s also very independent and speaks her mind freely. Crystal is very much in control of her life. There is not one submissive bone in her body. So why does Mark find himself unable to keep his distance? How is it that she can make him lose control? And why can’t he stop thinking about her?

Too many emotions warring inside Mark have him unraveling—thoughts about Rebecca, his mother, Crystal… He’s torn up inside and struggling to take back control. This human side of Mark, observing his vulnerability, has me seeing him in a whole new light.

I think I might actually like this Mark—the vulnerable one--the one he doesn’t let anyone see. The one who finally admits his true feelings about Rebecca; the one who fears losing his mother to cancer; the one that discovers how good it feels to sometimes relinquish control. And the one who is afraid to admit that giving control to Crystal, even briefly, might just be exactly what he needs!

"My Hunger" is a powerful and thought-provoking novella and an excellent companion to the "Inside Out Series." I can't wait to read more of Mark and Crystal's story!!

So I liked Mark Compton from the very beginning. I always had the feeling he was struggling in his world for control and hiding. Enter Crystal. She happens to not be the type of women he would go after. My Hunger takes us with Mark as he starts to spiral out of control. Another great novella by Lisa Renee Jones. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

A quick read, more Mark and Crystal told from Marks POV.
Mark is dealing with his sick mother and the police investigation.
It's so hard to review this one without giving too much away!!
Chris and Sara are in Paris so we don't see them in this story.
Mark is dealing with some different feelings, things he's certainly not used to. He does a little reminiscing over his relationship with Rebecca and what he did or did not do wrong, while Crystal tries to help him with his business and his family.

Mark is filled with guilt. Guilt for losing Rebecca because he didn't love her or he never told her before she was killed by Ava. Ava was jealous of Rebecca because she had Mark and Ava knew she would never have him as long as Rebecca was around. When control is what drives Mark and he loses it and his world is falling apart, can he recover with the help of Crystal? I love getting to know more about Mark and seeing his Master come undone, literally by Crystal.
It's horrible that his mother is sick and I really hope for the best with that.
It's nice to know he had/has feelings for Rebecca.
Naturally I am sooo much more curious for MORE information on Mark and getting to the root of his demons and why he need to be a master and control all areas of his love life, well control all his life. ...more

I absolutely love this book. I have loved Mark from the beginning. You really get inside Mark's head in this book. I know he was the"bad guy" , but I have always liked him.
