This book contains every fiber of my heart and soul. Truly a masterpiece. The true love and pain that went into this book is unmatched. I often go back to my highlights of this book just to try to relive the experience

Brandon King, the quiet, golden artist twin, is hiding scars (mental, emotional, not just physical) that made me fight back tears. And Nikolai Sokolov? The mafia heir who alternates between being your worst nightmare and your safest haven. Their push-pull is addictive. I lived for every banter between them.

The way Brandon’s inner demons were written—self-loathing, self-harm, wanting to disappear—they hit with honesty. And Niko doesn’t swoop in as a perfect savior; he’s flawed, violent, broken too, but he wants to protect and loves so fiercely. There’s a line, “Even if you hate yourself, I’ll love you for the both of us.”

That shattered me in the best possible way.

There’s tension, there’s domestic sweetness, and then there’s darkness. Kent balances moments of tenderness (quiet mornings, paintings, apologies) with scenes that clash, that sting. It’s not smooth sailing—and thank god. The messy parts make the healing feel earned.

The steamy moments are SMOKIN’, but sometimes the erotic shocks felt overdone—like they leaned so hard into the taboo and the exaggeration that I had to pause. A few plot threads seemed to come out of left field (family drama, old enemies, power plays) without enough setup. Some clarity about “why this now?” would’ve helped. Also, repetition: certain metaphors (especially around demonic pasts, darkness, addiction) are used a lot. They still land, but toward the end I found myself going, “Oh yeah, here’s the metaphor again.”

After God of Fury I felt wrecked in all the right ways. I laughed, I sobbed, I wanted to shake Brandon and hug him so hard. There’s a kind of messy, imperfect love here that feels like your ribcage expanding—painful, yes—but because the heart inside it has room to heal.
