I had really been looking forward to this, but I just couldn't do it. I wanted to like it! But I kept picking it up and immediately wanting to put it back down. This book clearly has Victorian England influences and that's not a writing style I particularly love, so I think that may have been part of the problem. There were also just so many words and proper nouns that I wasn't familiar with - both real and made-up ones - which is not something I deal with well. ...more

Perfect. Time travel shenanigans, Victorian high society, a cat of questionable significance, and one truly horrific piece of church decoration... to say nothing of the dog.
This book came highly recommended, and it absolutely met expectations. An altogether clever and satisfyingly complex caper.
