A good but difficult read, given the benefit of hindsight and the knowledge of how we should treat the differently abled today. Liberal use of the R-word, while obviously in the context of history, is still cringeworthy.
I was shocked to read about how cruelly Rosemary was treated by her own parents, in their quest for a family of bright, attractive, high-achieving children. There were more than a couple of places where I found myself thinking, "Oh, if only ..."
I am glad that Jack used his Presidential powers to pas some laws that benefited children like Rosemary, and that younger sister Eunice devoted her life to the Special Olympics, again reaching children like Rosemary. I just wish Rosemary hadn't needed to ...more

Good god, Joe Kennedy was such an ass & Rose was no better – no wonder their children were all so messed up. Poor, poor Rosemary.
