What Members Thought
My grandmother gave me this book when I was (my very best guess) around 8. She read me the first chapter or two and then I read the rest by myself. I have re-read it since, with a good deal more comprehension of class and gender relations, missionaries, sex, etc. - but that first impression of the little girl outcast and alone, hiding in the window with her book, never left me.
