First of all thank you NetGalley and Ever King for the arc.
I read this in two days. The secret magic academy hooked me right away, and the plot never slowed down. There’s hidden magic, ancient prophecies, deadly trials, and a ton of secrets that kept me flipping pages like crazy. The world is dark, magical, and full of twists, and the Slytherin vibes at the academy were sooooooo good. The green details in the setting made everything feel vivid and eerie in the best way.

A dark magic academy, secret societies, Greek myths retellings… say no more, this sounded like a great read for me! And you know what? It was!
The story of Nyx and Erebus is not one I was very familiar with, so this didn’t end up being the driving factor for my interest. What completely drew me in was the setting (dark academia is a favourite trope of mine) and more than anything the unfolding relationship between the main characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and it was super quick and easy read. I’m a sucker for Greek mythology, and I really loved this Nyx and Erebus retelling!
The magic system felt unique, and I loved the use of the grimoires for their magic. I look forward to learning more about all of the mages throughout the series.
The academia and secret society vibes were really fun in this one. We also got a really beautiful enemies to lovers/fated mates storyline. Plus, who doesn’t love another sh ...more

Academy of Villains is if you wanted a slightly darker version of Harry Potter that meets Black Clover. This was giving me major if 'Slytherin were the main point of view versus Gryffindor' vibes. I really liked this book and can't wait to get into book 2!
Kiara is an assassin sent to kill the prince. She grew up believing she had no magic and finds out she does and everything she knew is coming into question now.
Prince Lucian is darkness and is drawn to Kiara and he isn't sure why. Things he believed growing up are not so true.
Can Kiara and Lucian work together to try and break the curse or will Kiara finally accomplish what she set out to do!

A dual POV of Kiera and Lucian sweeps us into a world that is similarly split between mundanes and mages, rich and poor, oblivious and oppressed. I REALLY enjoyed this, on the surface this is very much a hogwarts meets dark academia with a sprinkling of greek themes and a cool magic system. I enjoyed the elemental magic and the characters. I also thought this was more of a love story than anything although there are some great action scenes! Slow burn, not really any spice but this was really easy to read! And would definitley be reading the next one!
It took me a little while to get in to this book. And to understand the world. But when I got it I was hooked. It was a very unique story. There were some really good twist. I did like how the love story was there but not the main thing about the story. The ending of the book did make me curious for the next one!
Read this book!!! I couldn't put this down. The characters are perfectly written, the development of the two main characters is beautiful. I can't wait for book 2. I love all of the Raven boys. I absolutely loved this book from cover to cover.
