I loved this book a lot. How is this the same author as Deep End?! (Hated that book)

I decided to give Ali Hazelwood another try with this one and I’m so glad I did, I really enjoyed it. I really didn’t think I’d get super invested in a book revolving around chess but I was! (I’ll take Ali Hazelwood recommendations now, go on)

this book was okayy ig? i was a little dissapointed in some areas but some things were good!!

first up, i liked the main characters okayy!! they had sooome cute moments. mallory was sometimes annoying but i could also relate to her little as an older sister? but she wasn’t the best character as a whole. and the mmc (i don’t remember his name and i won’t bother too look it up) he was okay? but like he was also just kinda weird sometimes and idk
