"Don't let the right one get away because the wrong one broke something inside you."
I thoroughly enjoyed this Australian story by Allison A. Andrews.
Set primarily in Brisbane, this contemporary romance focuses on Brianna and Jake. Childhood friends who reconnect as adults when Brianna returns to Brisbane after a humilitating end to her 4 year relationship in Sydney.
Jake has just won a Brisbane penthouse apartment in a luxury apartment building in a raffle he entered on a whim when cornered at a ...more

2025:
"Don't let the right one get away because the wrong one broke something inside you."
This book was incredible in every single way.
I had absolutely no idea what to expect when starting this book.
Allison has managed to throw in real life problems, but deal with them in such a poetic way that you can't help this story pulling on your heart strings.
Considering that friends to lovers is my favourite trope, I shouldn't be surpised that Bri and Jake's love story was absolutely everything.

By far the cutest read of 2025!
The Winning Ticket was everything I wanted in a feel-good romance and then some. The cinnamon roll MMC had me swooning from the start, I was dubious about him having a J name, but Jake was equal parts sweet and saucy. The emotional vulnerability between Bri, our FMC and him felt so authentic I almost forgot they were fictional.
On the flip side… Richard. Deserved the nickname Dick from page one. No notes.

Well, firstly Richard is a total Richard who can just go and eat a bag of Richards!!! Right, now that that is out of the way, the relationship between JJ and Little B that develops in this book, and their whole backstory is just chefs kiss. The Author is very skilled at building tension throughout the book and has done an amazing job with this one. So much so, that even though I am not normally a "real-life", "fluffy" romance reader sped through it in a few hours. I will definitely be continuing

I absolutely loved this book!
This book is about self discovery and learning to love yourself. It is also about finding your people, it takes a village. It was so beautifully written.
Bri is so relatable. Her anxieties and feelings of self doubt and self worth are feelings most of us women have. I love how Allison addresses these issues with so much respect.
Jake is every girls dream. I kind hearted, loyal and all around good guy. I loved how he gave Bri space and loved her through it all.

Small town Australian romance, friends to lovers, long term friends to lovers, helping overcome manipulation. If these are your go to then you will love this book.
I enjoyed this book so much. It is a different side to Allison and I can’t wait to see what happens for the rest of the old school group as they grow.

I really enjoyed this read!! It was so sweet and cute, proving that not all "J" names are horrible.
I did feel that some of the scenes were forcefully trying to integrate the well known phrases we all love, but I still devoured every word.

What is the best way to say 'Fuck it' in a friends to lovers?
"If we do this, I want you in every room of this apartment. All weekend.!!!"
If you need a feel good romance that makes your heart flutter as much as other parts of your anatomy then this is the book for you!
