After spending the last year in a whirlwind of fast action, spice driven, well written but surface level books it was like coming home to epic fantasy. I just KNOW how good this series is going to be.
I love the drip feeding of world building. I love the subtle complexity. I LOVE knowing how much is going to continue to unfold. I love that feeling of knowing its all new and I will have to remember and learn and probably re read a few times to fully appreciate it! And I just want MORE.

Untempered is a solidly written book one in a new fantasy series! Being book one there are a lot of concepts and ideas that need explaining and developing for the reader, which can seem daunting at times but Elisse has done a very good job of building that world without it feeling like an info dump and interfering with the storyline.

An epic romantasy is something I do find myself devouring, and while I did enjoy this one, it took me quite a while to get into it. This may also be because of me personally and where my head is currently at, so I will be going back to read this again at a later stage.
It's a slow, slow burn story, with lots of magical elements and multiple POVs. The potential for this series to truly become epic is definitely there and I'm going to continue reading them as each new book comes out. I would almost ...more
