꒰☁️꒱ for some reason I wanna read Ann Liang’s books in order, and this is her debut so ofc I had to borrow this from hoopla !! I’ve been wanting to check it out for 2 days and I’ll try in the afternoon but it will hit collective borrow limit so I checked it out at midnight 💀

I love Ann Liang books because they're romances but also coming-of-age with true character development. I love the unique supernatural element that's really a symbol for a greater story--how low-income students can feel erased, invisible when money automatically grants people so many advantages in life. I love the mouth-watering descriptions of Chinese food and culture--they feel like home. I love the angst and the yearning, even though I think it's silly that the female protagonists have grudge
