This book was so cute - but you could already tell that for the cover. I am being so honest when I say that I did not read the back I just heard of the book from a friend looked the book up and bought it. It did not disappoint it was the sweetest romance ever with a cute little insecurity subplot. Literal hallmark movie vibes, adorable❤️

I love a good fake-dating, and this one delivered! Not only are Levi and Danielle "ex" childhood best friends, but they are both longing for each other throughout the entire book. It's like one of those scenes in a movie where you're screaming, "JUST KISS ALREADY!!!!" I felt like the progression of this book was perfect, and the plot was laid out and written out pretty well, too. I genuinely was surprised to know that this book was self-published!

And random side-note, I don't know why, bu 4.5/5 ✨

And random side-note, I don't know why, but this book reminded me of Binding 13 in a way, not from scenes or backstory or plot, but from how Levi and Dani acted in certain scenes. It reminded me of Johnny and Shannon. But, idk, may just be me.

Okay, so let's talk about characters (my favorite part)! Let's start with Daisy (Dani/Danielle). At first, I was having a hard time liking her as a female lead. Meaning, I found her annoying and kind of stupid. (I say that because HOW CAN YOU BE SO OBLIVIOUS TO THE WAY HE'S LOOKING AT YOU?!?! AND, GIRL, IT IS NOT BROTHERLY. AND IF YOUR BROTHER IS LOOKING OR ACTING THE WAY LEV IS, PLEASE GO TO THE POLICE!) But, that was short lived, especially once I got more insight into Daisy's past. Her dad passed away from cancer, and she constantly plagued herself with thoughts of "I'm not good enough". While I wish her insecurities were surfaced sooner in the book, my heart still stung for Daisy. No person should have to go through a parental loss and metal challenges (but unfortunately we do). And, oh my god, what happened with Ethan?! I'm with Levi, I was going to kill him. Still want to.

On the topic of Levi, new book boyfriend btw, he has raised my standards. Like, y'all, he literally got Daisy daises and wrote and published a book of love poems--in French, mind you--for her. *Cough* excuse me? When is it my turn??? I loved how he went out of his way to spend time with the people he loved, too. I loved how he was very soft, but insanely protective over the people he cared about. But it was done properly, so it wasn't like "I'm a teddy bear...I'M GONNA KILL THIS MAN WITH A KNIFE, blah, blah, blah." If you know what I mean. I JUST LOVE HIM!! AHHHH!!! Especially when it came to Daisy's insecurities. He was always there for her, listened, and made sure he knew how to fix things and make her feel better. Plus, Levi was such a good brother to his younger sisters. Kindness toward family is the way to my heart. (Of course along with, food, flowers, hugs, forehead kisses, books, little things that are done for me! Which Levi did all of, of course! And not that I've ever actually experienced that. SINGLES WHO COPE WITH LONELINESS THROUGH BOOKS, UNITE!! Just me? Oh, okay...)

That being said, this is the perfect book to snuggle up with in a bundle of blankets with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, maybe even that one random gatorade pod you have sitting in the back of your pantry from 2023. I promise, that if you get a chance to read this book (that is, if you are a hopeless romantic like me), then you will fall in love, once again, with another book and the fictional characters in-between the pages. ...more

hmmm

not really sure how to feel with this book. at times i was really getting into it and then daisy would say something like slow down plsss. i understand that she was really insecure and that was a major character development but sometimes i was just wanting her to live in the moment and stop her mind racing.

i loved levi, but i will say that i think the author wanted every single romantic thing in one mmc. a hot, handsome, teacher, greate with kids, literature, idek what the job he wanted ...more
