OMG YALL! Words can’t even express how UGH I feel. Even before I read it, I was the first person to get my target edition in my town. This book definitely made me sob and cry and have multiple crashouts. But at the same time it’s healed me, made me laugh, and made me sleep with it! This was such a pretty book, and no spoilers but this was a stressful read…

I’m conflicted about this book…. I LOVED LOVED LOVED everything between Kai and Paedyn. All of the longing and love and stolen moments! But then there was the rest of the book…. Especially the ending🤦🏻‍♀️. The ending was full of plot twists that didn’t seem believable and felt forced. The entirety of the last 150 pages had me utterly confused as to what Roberts intentions were. It was honestly a clusterfuck of information and craziness that was in my opinion unnecessary ...more

PLOT: I was really looking forward to this book and it may have let me down a little. The plot for the first 350 pages felt like a recycled version of powerless-and i'm not even very sure of what was going on in the second half of the book. All the plot t 2.5 stars (and I HATE giving books ratings this low, so bare with me if it's extremely people pleaser-y and I apologize to anyone who liked it; this is just my opinion and sorry if it feels like i'm being a hater, that's not the intention here)

PLOT: I was really looking forward to this book and it may have let me down a little. The plot for the first 350 pages felt like a recycled version of powerless-and i'm not even very sure of what was going on in the second half of the book. All the plot twists came at you so quickly and were dare I say a little confusing? I didn't think all the parental stuff was necessary at all. And the fact that we find out that Kitt and Paedyn are HALF SIBLINGS felt super gross and unnecessary especially on the day of their WEDDING. blech. And there were so many deaths that didn't feel like they needed to happen.

PAEDYN: Normally I like to like main characters, but i don't feel very attached to Paedyn whatsoever. I don't think there was very much growth to her since the first book-and that she kind of lost some of the badassery that i really admired in the first two books. Obviously she did do some very 'badass YA fantasy fmc' things (namely, murder) but it felt really rushed to get to the romance part, which felt a bit more repatative in this book. I would liked to have seen Paedyn outside of her relationship with Kai and more as an independent person a little more.

KAI: Comparing powerless era Kai and fearless era Kai, we definetly see some growth; he becomes more kind and sympathetic, even towards people who aren't Paedyn. But it did feel like the whole of his POV was centered around Paedyn. Kai probably did not have more than five thoughts that weren't about her throught most of the book. While everyone all over book social media says that that's 'sweet' or 'romantic' i kind of found it to be creepy and unrealistic? we get that they're SO in love that it's all consuming, but it began to feel repetative really fast.

KITT: Justice for Kitt. Why does Lauren Roberts always give him the worst plotlines ever? He was a genuinly kind (if not a little naive) character in the first book. I was looking forward to seeing him be redeemed and maybe even friends with Paedyn? But no. He forced his HALF SISTER (although he didn't know, to be fair) to marry him for the greater good of the kingdom, but then got jealous that his brother would rather spend time with her than him, than tried to kill her, went absolutely crazy (and got sick somewhere in between) and then DIED. and then Lauren thought she could patch this all up by naming their kid Kit? Justice for Kitt, I repeat.

OVERALL: I really was looking forward to this one. As an ending to a trilogy it felt kind of unsatisfactory and i didn't feel like we got a lot of character arc. I'm bummed that it wasn't really my cup of tea, but i'm glad that a lot have people seemed to enjoy it! ...more

4.25 stars! I loved this book!! it was my least favorite book of the series, but I still really loved it! I will say I was satisfied with the ending 😌 I was expecting some of the plot twists, but there were still things I wasn't expecting!

I have mixed feelings 🫠.
First of all I have MANY mixed feelings for Kitt. When I started the book I didn't really hate him, but I also didn't like him. Halfway through the book, I started loving him, but at the end... Honestly, I don't know what to feel.

I also want to make an honorable mention to Paedyn. I absolutely love her. I really liked her character, specially in this book.
