Fantastic! I loved the setting, the characters, and the writing. It wasn't verbose or very descriptive (excepting, perhaps, Phryne's clothes), but I got a very clear picture of everything. The most difficult part of reading "Cocaine Blues" is the time period; I had to keep a dictionary/the internet close by to look up words I didn't know. Most of them were clothing- and hair-related. But now I know what they are, and am armed to read more in the series! ...more
