What Members Thought
The book is full of symbolism (the green light anyone?), but other than that for being such a classic there is not much there. The plot is not interesting, and the characters do not have much dimension to them. The writing itself is fine, but the choppy way he chooses to jump around in time to tell his story detracts instead of adding to the novel. The goal is to make points about the American Dream, but this is not entirely successful. This book reminded me while I was reading it of a hot, dust
