I love this book! The characters are wonderful, the story is wonderful, the setting...everything about it is wonderful!
There are a few shocking moments where one character or another makes racist comments, but those were the only objectionable parts. I have no idea how they were/would have been received when the book was first published, but it seemed like they were more to define the characters than to make a statement. Still, every time I read it they come as a shock.
