This whole book took wow to a whole new level..

On finishing I definitely hadn't expected this much action and suspense. But I'm not complaining! I remember reading so much I gave myself a headache!
Kira's world was explained very well and the characters were very well developed. And no good dystopian novel would be complete without diabolical villains and cliffhanger endings. This book seemed to have it all. Oh and speaking of "having it all" I wonder if a love triangle is going to form? It woul ...more

Partials is the first in Dan Wells' YA Dystopian Trilogy. And if you think that, after The Hunger Games and Divergent, YA Dystopia has nothing new to offer, you'd be wrong. Partials is an innovative and satisfying twist in an already over marketed genre; however, this book is smart, engaging, and throws in a good dose of actual science, to make the reader realize this is not simply mindless entertainment, and is not a carbon copy of the blockbuster hits within the genre.

gotta hand it to Wells.. he did an excellent job writing this dystopia, sci-fi novel. it's got an interesting female lead and a full fantastic supporting cast - tho there are so many, it was a bit hard to follow.
while the topics explored aren't extremely unique (organic robots, humans can't reproduce, deadly viral disease wiping humanity), the whole story is rather entertaining. can't wait to read the next book which I already checked out if the library.

I'm not typically a fan of YA Dystopian fiction, but I have to say, by the time I got to the midpoint of Partials I was rooting for Kira and her gang. I couldn't put the book down.
Wells does a great job of keeping the tension up and reader wanting to know 'what happens next'. ...more

3.5 stars.
What it lacked in character it made up for in plot. By the end I wasn't able to put the book down. Can't wait to read the next installment. ...more
