Well... I have mixed opinions. This book really wasn't that bad but my reading experiance was just not it. I couldn't even curate a playlist for this book which never happened before.

I know that I said going into this book that I don't expect anything but somehow this book disappointed me? The vibes were imaculate just like I hoped for and the storyline was fine but there was something off. The characters seemed really shallow and I never got to trully connect with them (I just know that i 2.75⭐️

I know that I said going into this book that I don't expect anything but somehow this book disappointed me? The vibes were imaculate just like I hoped for and the storyline was fine but there was something off. The characters seemed really shallow and I never got to trully connect with them (I just know that in a week I'll forget all their names and never think about them again). At the end we theoritically "lost" the MC so that should definetely cause some emotions but I wasn't even sad. My reaction was just "oh". Even when the male love interest was on his way to save her and the stakes were HIGH I was somewhat indifferent towards it.

My favourite character was Ione I think and if there will be more of her in "Two Twisted Crowns" then I'm excited about that. What is concerning is that somehow The Nightmare is a much more appealing character than the actual love interest.

The plot with the cards and searching for them was actually interesting and I liked it but the story felt rushed. If the story took place over several months I would understand the certain choices of the characters better but from what I understood everything happened in around two maybe three weeks. Also thanks to this I wasn't bored but it's not really an indicator of quality.

The writing in this book was whimsical but there were some issues that annoyed me. Whenever I read about MMC "growling" I was laughing so hard I couldn't focus on the "romantic" scene. Also, by the end of this book I was sick of hearing about the tear streaming down the FMC's cheek.

Something that I wished was more explored in this book is the problem of "degradation" that our main character Elspeth faces. She is slowly loosing herself and her mind but we don't actually see it happen. The Nightmare keeps saying "you have little time left" but I see absolutely no change in her behavior. I think it would be cool if we could see how she looses control over herself and fades.

Overall, if you read "Heartless" and/or "Once Upon A Broken Heart" then I'd definately recommend this book even if only to satisfy the yearning for something similar. The story was original and a a nice darker twist to this sort of "fairy tale" genre.

This book was insanely enjoyable, and it held my attention the whole entire time. The worldbuilding was well-written, and I enjoyed the characters. The plot and the twists were incredible, and I need to immediately read the second book cause what even just happened??

Gosh this book was such a nice breath of air for me. It’s a tad bit cliche with its tropes (enemies to lovers, betrayal, plot twists) but honestly I think that’s what made it so good.

The character writing was decent for most main characters. Though I wish Ravyn got more character development outside of us learning more about him.

I loved every minute of this book, i loved te characters especially Elm with his sarcastic ass.
The story kept me on my toes and the aesthetic has me on a chokehold that I cannot explain
