This book, a departure from my usual choices, is an unexpected favorite. Erin Morgenstern has created an alternate universe that has forever captured my imagination and will influence my ideas on what is real and imagined for many days to come. Her language is fresh and her story, while vaguely familiar, takes those archetypal elements and synthesizes them into something utterly beautiful and immersive. This novel, while difficult to explain, must be read by those who love reading.
