I found this book pretty difficult to enjoy. I wasn't a fan of the constant repetition or the way it was structured.

Having to read a whole chapter of the author's interpretation before you've read the passages he's interpreting makes things pretty confusing, not to mention all the sanskrit and contemporary language.

Also, I understand the repetition is part of how the Buddha spoke but come on...

After reading In the Buddha's Words, I am slightly less ignorant of buddhist teachings than I was before. But not by much, unfortunately. This book was dense to get through. I'm not sure I recommend it, there must be better starters for people who are new to buddhism. ...more
