The is can be read as a standalone, I would really recommend reading the 1st 4 books in the author’s Crawshanks Guide to the Recently Departed series as we meet Ellis, the crew of the hotel & the ghosts in that book. In that book I had noted that I would love to have a series surrounding this hotel & the ghosts & was so excited when the author did indeed write this.
