I'm not sure what to make of this, really. The beginning was ridiculous with pages dedicated to Tallus trying to remove a light fitting/tube. I was actually taken aback at the ridiculousness of it. I can't make up my mind on Diem, I get a growly alpha male but this bloke is on a whole other level.
The crime element was too big for such a short novella and was intriguing enough to warrant way more fleshing out.
That said, I'm curious enough to read the next book in the series.

I found Invisible Scars a disappointing prequel to the Shadowy Solutions series. As a Valor & Doyle fan who has enjoyed the other works by James that I've read (the Rail Riders series and one of her standalone novels), I'm bummed to rate this one so low.
