I honestly don't know how to put into words what this book was like. It was much less fantasy than i expected. The basic world building was fantastical, but it was predominantly historical fiction (with some good old pining mixed in there).
Perhaps it begins with one person. Someone you trust. You remove a piece of armor for them; you let the light stream in, even if it makes you wince. Perhaps that is how you learn to be soft yet strong, even in fear and uncertainty. One person, one piec

I bought this book on a whim because the cover was so pretty, but I just knew that I would like it. I was instantly hooked on the story and the characters. I believe Iris and Roman are relatable, and I liked how they faced what came their way.

This story is set in a fantasy world that is loosely based on the UK. I believe that Oath is London, but I could be wrong. The time period is loosely based on WW1 and in 1917, but the war in this book is between two gods, Enva and Dacre, and not between cou
