Deacon is the 4th book in the Unfinished Heroes series. This series features heroes who are a bit darker and gritty. They have long hard roads to reach their heroine and their chance at an HEA. And Deacon may have the longest, hardest road yet. He is a “ghost”, living outside the grid and has given up. Only the strongest of women would even stand a chance at getting close to Deacon’s heart.

Oh how I love Kristen Ashley’s Unfinished Heroes, these boys have their rough around the edge persona, but boy do I love them. After meeting, Knight, Creed and Raid, I was super excited to meet the mysterious Deacon. This was less of the mystery/kidnap that I’m used too; it was more focused on who Deacon is and why he’s so closed off. I loved every minute of it.

Oh how I love Kristen Ashley’s Unfinished Heroes, these boys have their rough around the edge persona, but boy do I love them. After meeting, Knight, Creed and Raid, I was super excited to meet the mysterious Deacon. This was less of the mystery/kidnap that I’m used too; it was more focused on who Deacon is and why he’s so closed off. I loved every minute of it.

Deacon follows Cassidy Swallow who is about to start the next chapter of her life. Since she was little she loved the Colorado Mountains and swore to live there one day. Now she has moved and taken a risk with her boyfriend by buying cabins to fix up. But not everything goes as planned, her boyfriend isn’t the helpful guy she thought, money is tough and she refuses to give up, luckily a mysterious stranger keeps coming back for cabin eleven and help pay the bills. Cassidy becomes fascinated by the mystery man, known as Priest, who keeps coming back to her cabin eleven. Soon their lives come together over one Christmas and Cassidy may be the only one he will let in to his life.

Cassidy is a passionate woman who had a dream and never gave up on it. What I loved most about her character is that she never changed; from beginning to end her goal was to make her cabins the best place to visit in Colorado. She loves her new home by the river, but her dream may not be what her boyfriends dream is. I felt so bad for Cassidy as her hope and heart was crushed many times by the one guy she trusted. Luckily she doesn’t let anything stand in her way, she even befriends a mystery man that makes cabin eleven his home. I wasn’t sure how Cassidy would handle someone like Deacon aka Priest, she was so much brighter compared to the dark Deacon. I loved the tension, funny encounters, and overbearing alpha moments he has with Cassidy.

Deacon/Priest is not like any of the other bad boys of the Unfinished Heroes series. The readers will be seeing him from Cassidy’s point of view; he’s all mystery and all intimidation. He’s very hard to figure out but very much the protective hero guy. After reading the last book Raid, I knew he was the type of guy that was going to be hard-core as well as a tough cookie to crack. He doesn’t open up and Cassidy is the only one who makes him feel a little bit normal, even if it’s for a small amount of time he spends with her. I love their chemistry, even though he’s so closed off, I could tell this tough bad boy would do anything for Cassidy.

Overall I loved the difference that Deacon took out of all the hard-core boys. There isn’t much of a mystery to solve but more the mystery of who Deacon can be or was. I did miss the action packed and suspenseful moments, but luckily the readers will be happy to know the ending is freaking shocking and exciting! I can’t wait for the next book; all the boys are coming together to stop the big bad and are ready to gear up for some action.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is an adult novel meant for mature readers over the age of 18, for its sexual content and adult language. Fans of Jennifer Armentrout author of Be With Me and Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren, will love Deacon by Kristen Ashley.

Cassidy had a dream since she was a young girl and set out to make that dream come true. That dream being owning cabins in the Colorado Mountains, and sharing that with and everything that comes with it, with the man of her dreams.
