Shelves: e-books, worth-the-hype

Penelope Douglas is slowly, but surely becoming a new favorite author of mine. I can not get enough of her characters or her writing.
If I’m being honest, I was hesitant about this book because of the reviews, but I am so glad I decided to give it a try for myself.

Okay, so I remember filling out for this ARC, but I never dreamed I would actually get one. They day it popped up on my kindle, my eyes popped out of my head and I jumped up like my ass was on fire to check my computer to assure I was not going insane. After I confirmed it was actually there, I might have squealed a few times and got some seriously strange looks from my family. With that being said, I'll continue now. :)

I remember when I read Bully and I remember when I finished it. There was mostly disappointment because as much as I tried, I couldn't find anything else to read that closely resembled it and made me feel like I did. I was excited when I found out Punk 57 was coming out. I was ecstatic when I got the chance to dive it and this is another top read of 2016 for me. Not only did it exceed my expectations, but it shot them right out of the water.
Ryen and Misha end up being pen pals in Elementary School. They're best friends, but they've agreed that it's best not to meet face to face or by social media and it's worked out great...until Ryen unknowingly meets and even takes a picture with Misha at one of his band's parties. That one coincidental meeting changes E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G for Misha and Ryen doesn't understand what changes when she stops hearing from Misha. Despite not writing, Ryen doesn't give up on Misha. But Ryen harbors a secret; a life that's as opposite from how she feels as it can get...but other's opinions mean everything to her and she needs to keep her facade up...until she meets Masen. Masen is an asshole to Ryen, but he's drawn to her---for good reason, and Ryen is also drawn to Masen. He reminds her of someone she doesn't talk to anymore and as her relationship with Masen grows more odd and intimate as the days go on, Masen realizes his feelings toward Ryen are changing...even though he doesn't want them to. Their secrets come to a head and what Ryen is hiding and what Masen is hiding is enough to make the situation come to dire straits. But, where does Misha fit into this equation, you ask? You'll have to read to find out. ;)
Absolutely phenomenal book. I was captivated the whole time I was reading it. Throughout the book, you get song lyrics to Misha's songs and I can't tell you how much I love, love, LOVED some of these!!!
Reap, reap, reap, you don't even know, All you did suffer is what you sow! Alone, Empty, Fraud, Shame, Fear, Close your eyes. There's nothing to see out here.
Ah, I just can't get over how much these words made me think! And I can't get over how much I was affected by some of these lyrics.
Treat others how you want to be treated, But what if tonight I want to be burned? You told us it's better to be safe than sorry, And little sister listened, but I was the one who learned.
I know that we're talking about a book that's set in high school and I know that it's not going to be some people's cup of tea. I've got books I stay away from because I generally don't like them, but the way this book is written and the meaning that is conveyed in some of the words is astronomical to find when you read. This book teaches lessons and I think that everyone can learn at least something from it. Do yourself a favor and read this book. ...more

Eu não gosto muito de ler sobre adolescentes, porque já passei dessa idade faz um tempinho. Mas é tão gratificante. É mais fácil justificar os erros de alguém de 17 anos do que de um "adulto".
Os erros neste livros são justificáveis.
A Reyn é uma garota perdida, e que como tantas as outras garotas, quer ser aceita. O Misha... ah o Misha é o menino perfeito que todas gostariam de ter conhecido nesta idade. Perfeitamente imperfeito.
