4.5 Stars!

What can I say?! This book was a lot of fun. Ever since I finished The Chase, I’ve been dying to get my hands on the next Briar U story and man was it worth the wait. This book hit all the marks that I was looking for in a sports romance. We’ve got hotter than hot hockey players, amazing chemistry, a fun story-line filled with lots of heart and characters that just leave you begging for more. The Risk was all that and a bag of chips and was totally worth waiting for.

What can I say?! This book was a lot of fun. Ever since I finished The Chase, I’ve been dying to get my hands on the next Briar U story and man was it worth the wait. This book hit all the marks that I was looking for in a sports romance. We’ve got hotter than hot hockey players, amazing chemistry, a fun story-line filled with lots of heart and characters that just leave you begging for more. The Risk was all that and a bag of chips and was totally worth waiting for.

The Risk is the second book in the Briar U Series and it follows the story of Brenna and Jake. Brenna is one tough chick–damsel in distress she is not. Not only is Brenna a force to be reckoned with but she knows her hockey and she is hot stuff. Brenna is far from perfect, but has worked hard to make positive changes in her life. The last thing Brenna needs is Jake messing up her life and telling her what to do….Jake plays for the rival hockey team and let me tell you, he is all of that and then some. He’s arrogant and has ever right to be that way. And while Brenna can’t stand Jake, fate has other plans for these two. They are constantly put in each others paths and their chemistry is off the charts, undeniable. For the first time, Jake wants more than the status quo, if only he can get Brenna on board. The road to happily ever after for Brenna and Jake won’t be an easy one. Loyalties will be tested and the stakes will be higher than ever. Bottom line, The Risk was a ton of fun. The characters hooked me instantly and I’ve gotta say, I really enjoyed watching their story play out. I loved that their schools were rivals, so it added a bit of a forbidden flare to it. I loved the give and take between Brenna & Jake. Their chemistry was scorching hot and their banter was a total riot. I never knew what they were gonna say or what was going to happen next between these two. I loved that they kept me on my toes and that their relationship held such a realness to it. Both characters having to take a risk on one another. Whether it be because of a painful past or because they weren’t ready for the distractions a real relationship would bring. I loved watching these two go through the motions, watching them fall in love and fall apart, watching them decide if what they had was worth the risk or if it was time to let go. The Risk put my emotions through the ringer and I loved every single second of it. It had just the right amount of angst, drama, sexy good times and humor.

If you’re looking for a fun and sexy sports romance that’s filled with a lot of heart, then look no further. Give The Risk a try. I hope you’ll fall in love with these characters and their story just as I have.

The Risk by Elle Kennedy was a fast paced, fun flirty read. Jake and Brenna's chemistry was off the charts, that I had to fan myself a few times. This enemies to lovers romance made me swoon. If you are a sports fan like myself that loves a spicy forbidden romance, definitely pick this book up.

Começo a achar que o mérito desta série é o papel das protagonistas femininas. Mais uma que é sabe bem o que que e não se deixa intimidar por ninguém. E parece-me que teve um protagonista mais altura do que no livro anterior.

Brenna Jensen e Jake Connelly são de universidade e equipas rivais - Briar e Harvard respectivamente - mas que de vez em quando, ambos frequentam os mesmos espaços, seja por pura coincidência ou não, e as faíscas da rivalidade saltam à vista. Só 4 'red lipstick on mood' Star

Brenna Jensen e Jake Connelly são de universidade e equipas rivais - Briar e Harvard respectivamente - mas que de vez em quando, ambos frequentam os mesmos espaços, seja por pura coincidência ou não, e as faíscas da rivalidade saltam à vista. Só que para conseguir um estágio de sonho, Brenna tem de engolir o orgulho e pedir ajuda a este rapaz, que sempre que pode, não perde uma oportunidade de a provocar. Mas por cada encontro falso, tem de haver um encontro verdadeiro.

Sobre estas 2 personagens tenho a dizer que eles funcionam muito bem. Se um é apelativo, o outro não fica atrás, mas beleza à parte, ela é destemida, sarcástica e segura de si mesma. Assume os erros do passado, quer retificá-los, aprender com eles mas não deixa de estender a mão ao ex-namorado, por muito que lhe custe. A relação com o pai não é das melhores mas a partir do momento que ela resolve pôr tudo em pratos limpos, é o pai que a irá surpreender, quando resolve ajudar o suposto inimigo.
Já o Jake tem uma determinação e confiança imensurável, mas se a sua visão sempre foi o hóquei, o seu foco começa a ser direccionado para outro lado quando Brenna aparece na sua vida. Será ele capaz de lidar e conjugar tudo? Mesmo quando lhe tentam "abrir" os olhos para o papel desta rapariga na sua vida? Pois aqui foi onde ele pecou...
Tinha de ter havido algum drama (para separar temporariamente os protagonistas), mas achei aquela lógica muito mal "aplicada" com a maneira de ser da Brenna, e ele devia ter interpretado melhor as palavras da melhor amiga, ainda para mais, depois das confissões da noite anterior. Deu-se este percalço que depois foi tão rapidamente resolvido e esquecido, que se fosse a Brenna do inicio do livro, ela teria-o feito rastejar mais!

Eu gosto das personagens secundárias, mas achei que a parte da Rupi e o Hollis, foi bastante exagerada e até fiquei cansada com aquilo. Talvez se isto fosse trocado por mais momentos entre os protagonistas, teria apreciado mais.
Também gostei da atitude da Brenna perante a profissão do pai e restantes amigos - treinador de hóquei e vários jogadores dos Briar respectivamente - e a equipa de hóquei do rapaz que gosta, que uma coisa, não tivesse influencia na decisão de estar ou não estar com o Jake. Afinal quantos não são os livros que isso é o entrave.

Perante isto, gostei bem mais deste livro, o Jake teve aquele momento infeliz, mas adorei a combinação destes dois.

This is a spin-off/next generation to the epic Off-Campus series with many characters we have adored for years finally getting their chance at love. This enemies-to-lovers romance is nothing short of fantastic and it hits on every emotion you’ve got to take you on one heck of a ride.
