4 3/4 "You carried me." Stars!

I loved this story. It felt really true to life (in a great coincidences romance novels kind of way) to me. Really bad stuff happens in life, but life goes on and really great stuff can happen too.

4.5 Minute by Minute Stars

This book was not exactly what I expected-it was so much more. I thought I would be a crying, slobbering mess, but I was far from it. For me, it was a beautiful and uplifting story about overcoming a devastating loss and learning to live again, minute by minute.

This was my first read by this author and I really enjoyed it. A great slow burn romance. One of the best I've read of this type of character storyline. Well written and edited. I was pulled into the story from the very beginning and never lost interest. I would recommend this book and I look forward to reading more by Ms. Perry. ...more

Oh Devney Perry, where have you been all my life??!! I get so excited when I decide to read a new to me author and it’s one of the best books I’ve read all year!! I’ve heard of Ms Perry from her past releases so when I heard she was releasing The Birthday List I was not letting this one pass me by!!! OH MY LORD!! I will be a forever faithful to her. I’m now a full-fledged stalker errr…. Follower and I cannot wait to have a morsel of time to discover her other works. She is a MUST READ author!! Jamie and Poppy her young and in love. Jamie was adventurous and instead of having a bucket list for when he retired, he had a birthday list. A list of things he wanted to accomplish by a certain birthday. He thought why wait until I’m retired to do these things. He wanted to make memories now. He was always thinking of fun and silly things to add. They were on the eve of their first wedding anniversary when Jamie was murdered while out running errands. It took Poppy many years to move forward but after five years, she thought it was time to fulfill Jamie’s birthday list.

She didn’t know she would find more than just adventure. Cole was the one who five years ago delivered the news to Poppy about Jamie’s murder. Being a police officer it was the hardest part of the job but he stayed with her until her family was able to be there for her. There was something about the beautiful women that called to Cole. It didn’t feel right just leaving after he gave her the news. Five years later their paths will cross multiple times and it seems like fate and Jamie’s birthday list was pulling them together.

Poppy struggles with letting Jamie go but knows it time to move forward. It seems like his birthday list will do more than bring Poppy back to life but towards a new future. The Birthday List will take you on a roller coaster of emotions and will leave you falling in love. It’s a story of loss and triumph, of love and strength and a story that will stay with you long after you finished the last page. I hope you take a chance and read this one like I did! You will not be disappointed!

First let me start off by saying I paused at reading the Birthday List when it first came out. While I love Devney Perry books, I was scared that this would be an epic tear jerker that my heart couldn’t take at the time. Staring at that cover was torture. As a lover of gardening….the siren’s call of that Poppy just ‘spoke’ to me. Tempting me to open the cover and just read!!

What I discovered when diving into the Birthday List was definitely nothing like I expected. It was a story that gripped me from the first chapter, and kept me locked to the words upon the pages. Poppy’s loss was significant, and played a huge part in where her future would lead. This was an emotional read that inspired your soul while leading you on a journey of angst, second chances, and inspirational moments.

Everything about the Birthday List ignited my soul!! The feelings that these characters bring to the novel are truly inspirational. The feeling of losing yourself in the writing of Devney Perry will captivate you from the very first page! Definitely one of my top reads of the year!!

This is by far my favorite Devney Perry book! So sweet and yet so heartbreaking. As if losing the love of your life isn’t hard enough, Poppy takes on the painstaking task of finishing her late husband Jamie’s birthday list.
