Well Congratulations KA. You win the second one star award I gave out this week , for this crap fest. Congratulations on ruining another one of your book series by slapping a craptastic book on the end of it.

Although that mug should be filled with whiskey, the couple in this books drink of choice, that they drank the entire book. My guess is KA was really hitting that whiskey bottle herself while writing this one. Here's an example of this fantastic writing:

But she doesn’t want that and I’m not looking for it either. We both knew that going in. We both knew what we wanted going in. We both got that. And that part’s done.”

“I don’t actually get any of that,” she admitted."

I don't actually get any of that either Cora, welcome to Kristen Ashley's world of nonsensical writing. Her writing has really changed since she wrote your book Cora........

Shall we continue? So boring boring boring drunk drunk drunk. That sums up the first 2/3rds of the story. Noc and Franka are a remake of Sadie and Hector from rock chicks. But they are a bad remake. Noc can't even speak complete sentences. Franka somehow transforms into this beautiful " midnight soul" blah blah blah after being a she bitch from hell in previous books in this series. The rest of this book is remade scenes from KA's other books all thrown together. In the middle of this dribble, all of the sudden we see a Lahn of this world sighting. Now I loved loved Golden Dynasty. So, seeing Lahn of this world now has my interest. Just when I think Lahn is gonna show, I'm interrupted by my real life.

My sixteen year old son walks downstairs and says with a shaking voice " mom I've made a terrible mistake, Joe ( my thirteen year old son) and I were fooling around with the play samurai sword and I actually stabbed myself in the chest" He holds up his shirt and there is a gaping wound right over his heart bleeding all over the kitchen floor. So eight hours later we are home from ER, my son alive, and I think" wow one more inch and he would have died today. " I'm not wasting another second on this book, life is too short to waste it on this crap. But then......Lahn. So I keep reading.

So then I'm even more pissed. Because, we don't actually get to see Lahn and Circe together. We are TOLD they are together. So instead of spending time with the Golden couple, I'm stuck reading about drunky couple.

I had given up on KA and didn't read her last two books. Her writing got so bad I couldn't even understand what she was saying. But I caved on this one because...Lahn. Then we didn't really get him. What a sad thing , reading this was.

KA then puts down the bottle long enough to write a halfway decent ending. But that's the only good thing I can say about it. I remember a time when my buddy reading friends and I would stalk Amazon at midnight on a KA book release day. I buddy read this with them and all of us are so sadly dissapointed. I loved the final chapter in this story. I wasn't a huge Franka fan, but love Noc. I'm glad she finally saw her way to the less evil side, and really found her place. I feel like she was a victim of circumstances and I just needed to give her a chance to move on from her old life to make a new life with Noc. ...more

Midnight Soul by Kristen Ashley is a beautiful homecoming for all fans of the Fantasyland Series. The final book in my favorite series had me feeling melancholy. I missed the series so much and didn't want it to end. I was honestly thrilled when I heard Midnight Soul was being released this year. Wasn't sure how I felt though about it ending with Franka Drakkar. Franka has been a villain in the series since the beginning. She didn't deserve her own book let alone the final book. Her story

Midnight Soul by Kristen Ashley is a beautiful homecoming for all fans of the Fantasyland Series. The final book in my favorite series had me feeling melancholy. I missed the series so much and didn't want it to end. I was honestly thrilled when I heard Midnight Soul was being released this year. Wasn't sure how I felt though about it ending with Franka Drakkar. Franka has been a villain in the series since the beginning. She didn't deserve her own book let alone the final book. Her story did the series justice, of which I'm sure readers will agree.

Noctorno Hawthorne (Noc) isn't from Franka's world. He's from Earth. He's just here to save their world. Franka is not on his radar. Noc is definitely not on hers. She's grieving, sullen, she just wants to leave and protect what's important to her. Noc is done fighting and planning some sightseeing. But one turn of events brings them together in a way neither expected. It shows us a side of Franka I wasn't expecting, a vulnerability.

Kristen's writing style has always been one of my favorites. She has these amazing, strong, witty, fierce females and the equally strong, fierce, alpha counterparts. When written well it makes for laugh out loud moments, ultra sexy steamy scenes, and loads of scheming and intrigue and Kristen Ashley's books are written well. Her prose is unique and sometimes, I have to read certain lines over again just because the men can be confusing. It's all very "I am man, you woman" but not in a degrading barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen kind of way.

No her characters are respectful yet demanding. They love deeply, but fight hard. And I lap up every word. I can never get enough. Midnight Soul lived up to my expectations. I found myself smiling even laughing out loud a few times. The sweet, loving moments were worth the tears. The trials and tribulations were eye opening. Midnight Soul was cathartic in a way. We were able to watch Franka find herself, while watching Noc fall for her in the best way. She needed a lot of time to recover, which he was more than happy to give her. I love that he took his time with her. It was also really nice to learn more about her character and how she got to the place we find her.

It was important to feel like this would complete the series. We the readers need that closure. While I still hope that maybe in the future there might be a spin off, I was okay with how it ended. Fans will get to visit all their favorite characters, some of them more than others. I'm sure they won't be disappointed.

Fantabulous!!

I wasn't very happy to hear that Franka's story would be the next and last book in this series. I didn't like her and wasn't sure I'd even read it. I did and fell completely in love with her!! Surprisingly this is probably my second favorite book in this series. ( Nothing could beat the Golden Dynasty) I should have never doubted my absolute favorite Author!! Absolutely fantastic!! ...more
