4 1/2 "Scarlet Kiss 💋" Stars!

I LOVED this book! Dark and sensual. A tiny bit scary (but I'm a scaredy cat, so...). Great world building. The overall series arch was so intriguing.

Lucan was broody and stubborn, but sexy and protective. Gabrielle was smart and patient. I loved them both. I just know this series is going to be so addictive for me. I can't believe I waited so long to start this series. Excited to see what's to come in this dark, sexy world. Happy reading! ...more

Disappointing. Being in the mood for some mine mine mine alpha, and having seen so many comments comparing this to bdb, I was blindsided and not a little bit pissed by it.

I cannot like either protagonists. The h seem to be real shallow and in heat or something, as having known not a thing about the H, she fell to bed with him and cannot stop thinking about him, not having spoken to him more than a few words. Then she also has no self preservation instinct, always barging in when it is not her bu Disappointing. I cannot like either protagonists. Then she also has no self preservation instinct, always barging in when it is not her business to do so in settings she is not familiar with and seem dangerous to an averagely intelligent adult.

I also cannot bring myself to like the H. He is seriously callous and selfish. What is he doing sleeping with her when he never even plans to stay with her? That is one heck of a selfish user. The h's inability to refuse him also makes her weak and desperate in my eyes. His calling should have been noble but I don't understand how he can be so unfeeling when he sees innocents killed when he could have done something to prevent it. His claim to not care about human makes him a supercilious arse, and seriously I don't get why he needs rogues eliminated when he doesn't give a fig about the humans in any case. I also suspect H is seriously communicationally retarded, why cannot he explain a lot of stuffs to h so she won't be doing stupid and annoying things? He never can express himself well even up to the reconciliation scene, never explained why he reacted certain ways to her. I find it incredible and h incredibly stupid to accept him just because he says the L word,

The h trying to cling on to H is just plain annoying. I cringe when they bonded in the end, a scene that should be sweet and romantic looks like a rape scene to me, with the H unwillingly being forced to do it while she did everything she can to force his hand. Absolutely awlful, especially when she doesn't even have the excuse of not knowing what that means. She seems more like one of those historical side character trying to force H to marry her by forcing him into a compromising position.

The enjoyable part and star awarded is for the actions and the bond of the brothers, I think I will not be as pissed if I treat this as less of a romance but more of a fantasy because frankly my dear I do not give a darn about h&H... ...more
