Well, well, well. Colour me surprised! I really enjoyed The Hookup, and it's definitely one of KA's better recent books which is good for me seeing as I almost gave up on her. So thanks Page for the snippets you shared whilst reading it, I was so going to pass on this one.
This is more in her traditional old style KA but was pulled out of the story quite a few times when she went all "Honey series" on the characters and it was just plain ick factor at times (view spoiler) ...more

Thank goodness this read like the old KA we all know and love. I really liked sweet and dorky, Izzy and hot as hell, Johnny. Although he wasn’t OTT Alpha, he still was alpha, in that sweet kind of way. I adored Izzy and her shabby chic lifestyle and full of life.
The pace of the story lagged in the middle, but I guess because this is book 1 in a series, the introduction of the new characters is a must. The story did pick up near the end and, of course, in KA style, the epilogue was sweet.

4-4.5 stars. This is the best KA book I've read in a long time. The blurb does not do this book justice and almost made me not read it, but I definitely recommend this book. It's not exactly what I expected based on the blurb. I have been disappointed in KA's newer stuff for the last couple of years (Complicated I liked ok, but this one I liked much more). Ever read a book and think “I really shouldn’t be liking this”? I should have been offended by Johnny’s misogynist attitude, but I really wasn’t. I should have hated Eliza for being too “perfect”, but I couldn’t.
What starts out as a quick hookup on night at a bar ends up being so much more for Johnny and Eliza. From the very first night you knew that they were it for each other. I loved their story, it had some drama to it but it wasn’t angsty or over the top. ...more

It’s been so long since I’ve read a KA book, and I’ve fallen in love all over again with her characters and stories! Can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
I loved this book, don't get me wrong .... it really was very good .... However, what I did not like was that Johnny was just m0re friendly to Addie than he should have been . I get she is his girls sister but he shouldn't have been call them both "his girls". And he definitely shouldn't have been saying how good looking his girls sister was ... (or thinking it in this case)
