4.5 Stars!

At the young age of seven, Axios began military training to prepare him to bravely fight as a true Spartan warrior. Though this was a rite of passage for boys, Axios wasn’t ruthless but rather someone who contemplated justice and morality. As hard lessons toughened Axios into adulthood, he would fight to death for his loved ones and brethren.

Truly this is not my cup of tea. Truly.

How odd then that I was bewitched by it. I won't say I loved it because I didn't. I was scared and uncomfortable and so freaking anxious but still, I couldn't stop reading and days later I am still thinking about it.

Is the word epic out of vogue? I am so not hip but man, this felt like an epic love story. It was so much more than just that but the foundation was just a truly beautiful story of love.

THIS IS SPOILER-ISH - PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!

An epic historical love story between two young Spartan men. Their story takes us on their journey of finding love, brotherhood, and loyalty in a culture where young boys at the age of eight leave their home and train for the next twelve years to become a warrior.

This story isn’t about the destination but rather all the years in between. Beautiful, heartbreaking, and brilliantly written. Tissues and wine needed.
