So I only read because it was the featured author for the month and I had read one of her other books (Well Hung) previously that I thought was pretty darn good. Not the best book ever by any means, but it was funny and entertaining and lacking in too much angst.
I however did not enjoy this one as much, it was pretty well written, no grammar issues, and there wasn't even any characters that I hated, it just didn't work for me as a whole. So maybe 2.5 stars really.

So we've got Ms Independent Nicole, queen of the Top 5 Sex-related Something Lists, owner of a ridiculous number of vibrators, and a adorable puppy named Ruby. She's got a stable career, her own place and a healthy sex-life. She never slut shames (that I remember)and only has one OOC moment I felt near the end.
And then there is Ryder, wounded by his mean ol'heartless ex, who's career is now floundering (he used to give give huge seminars on dating advice), and he doesn't think he will ever love again, except his cute puppy Romeo. Oh and he's like soooper hot.

Nicole has never really fallen in love, and nicely she's not bitter about this. She also wants a baby, like now and she's pretty sure she can do it on her own. And because Ryder is a fairly nice guy and more importantly hot, she's decided she wants his DNA for her kid. With no strings attached of course.
And Ryder decides that he would like sex with Nicole, so he agrees. As long as they do it the old fashioned way. Because nothing could go wrong with this idea.

What I didn't like:
All of the hundreds of terms for sperm used. Like I could go a long time without reading Baby Batter again. Or the multiple deposit jokes.
Nicole was naive in my opinion about what having a baby would be like. She was going to be so in love with this miracle. It was going to be overflowing with all of this love. She wanted to love this baby so HARD!!!
Never did she think about all of the times you are going to hate your kid, be tired of your kid and just plan worn out from your kid. It reminded me of hearing a teenager wanting a baby on a daytime talk show saying, "I just want someone to love, who'll love me back."
Also there was just too many references to the baby as a miracle, like it was magic. They aren't.
The smexy times where.. okay. Not my thing again. There was almost too many physical descriptions?

What I did like:
Nicole, (up until that one OOC bit near the end) was self assured, knew what she wanted, and never felt bad about it.
No slut shaming, but there was some intolerance towards the ex who had a sex-addiction.
Lauren Blakely can write some cute love confession scenes. Maybe a bit cheesy, but cute.
Another fairly low angst book, the worst of it only dragged out over 2 1/2 fairly short chapters.

Will I read another by this author, mmm not sure. Maybe only if I can get it on sale again. ...more
