I didn't love this as much as I did Fated, I struggled to connect with the heroine. I also felt there was a lot less romance in this one, and way more world building and action which usually doesn't bother me. This time it did. Go figure ...more

I love the storyarc, the conflict between factors and the unknown virus and all, but I seriously have a huge problem if this is a romance as there is nothing romantic between the couples here. There is just constant bickering, bickering, fighting and sex that borders on the battling of the will. It really is exhausting to be in such a relationship for me.

I love sassy h that has a backbone, but the sas has to be backed by logic and reason, not just giving sas for sas's sake, and also has to be followed up by actions. In here we see a h that is constantly fighting with every decision and will the H and other people made. She just has to have things done her way, because she is always right, and it is against the law for her to listen to other's opinions. She messed up and still she will keep fighting to make her own asinine decisions and even though she might have put herself and others in danger or worries the H, she still refuses to bend. I admire h with brains and her own thoughts, but if what she did ended up badly, it just shows she is an idiot and that unfortunately is what happened here. Just to list a few ridiculous examples, she is pissed human researchers are not brought on board fully, honestly did she have a brain to realise how that will turn out if the world knows about vampires and the lot? There is another incident where she brainlessly ignored all safety measures and risked being exposed to danger, then she blithely insisted she didn't do anything wrong even though everyone around her was worried and angry by her actions. She is just annoyingly egotistical, stubborn, self centred and suspicious. Which is understandable given her background. Unfortunately she also cannot seem to stop drooling at the H, and fell into bed every time with him against her wishes, that makes her really quite weak in my book. All empty talk. Honestly she probably is one of the h I really hate. The one thing that really got me is even knowing and acknowledging privately she is in the wrong or have hurt others, she still doesn't crack and never apologises. That might make her seem tough, but honestly that really makes me hate her as she thinks her pride is more important than her loved one's hurt feelings.

H isn't much better, yet I think given the h he is dealing with, I am willing to give him some slack. Poor guy actually found her ridiculous rebellious attitude charming, and when finally even he couldn't stand it, he uses sex to make his case. This is really distasteful and ikky to me, to be honest, I just skipped those scenes as there isn't anything romantic using sex as a power tool, not to mention a relationship should not be about oneupmanship anyways. The sad fact is he really was quite reasonable to begin with, giving h the freedom to do what she wants, and only went all cray cray when she abuses that trust and did tons of things endangering herself. I honestly pity the poor guy as I cannot find a way to get through to such a h.

The relationship is so exhausting to read, I do not know how they actually love each other as all I see is constant nonstop arguements, fighting of the will and hate sex. There also is no trust between these two, and that to me is really the most important ingredient in a relationship. Book is more enjoyable once I started skimming their parts and just concentrate on the story itself.

The plot is intriguing and to be honest if not for wanting to know about what happens next and who dunnit, I would have dnf it. I still want to know how things pan out but it looks like all future h are going to be a pain in the behind without any reasons except wanting to cause me headaches, so I probably will give it a rest for now. ...more

This is a favorite of mine. Wow. Everyone I read it it's like he first time. This series is so good. It takes you on a wild adventure filled with love, passionate, mating. Sigh. Dage is so swoony.
