HOOK, LINE AND SINKER!!! KA got me HOOKED with Zara and Ham. LINED cause I went trough everything with them and SINKER as it sucks that it's over but with a HEA. Fucking Beautiful!!

So I wasn't that sure to begin with when I bought this because and peeps remember this is my own personal opinion that I found Rock Chick Revolution hard to deal with and in the end I was really disappointed.

But....

I took the plunge anyway and as you can guess from what I wrote above I fucking loved it.

This one was good. It's not one of my favorites of the series, but I still liked it a lot. Ham is super sweet, and so is Zara (I love that name by the way, and Zander too), but I just didn't get all vested in their relationship. I don't really know why, probably because they are both new characters that we didn't meet in previous books. But there are some awesome parts in the story, and there are some awesome...er parts (love that!). One of those being the quote "... love is a show, not a tell." ...more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I got a false start a few pages in a while back, knowing what the H is like and definitely not liking it. In order to get to the next one, I started this again wanting a mine mine mine alpha. I guess I am just not into this type of plot or I am in a reading funk, overly picky and critical, but this one didn't work for me much.

The premise is a daring one in my opinion as I cannot see my liking either protagonists knowing what had happened, I seriously don't see how the past can not affect them, I got a false start a few pages in a while back, knowing what the H is like and definitely not liking it. In order to get to the next one, I started this again wanting a mine mine mine alpha. I guess I am just not into this type of plot or I am in a reading funk, overly picky and critical, but this one didn't work for me much.

The premise is a daring one in my opinion as I cannot see my liking either protagonists knowing what had happened, I seriously don't see how the past can not affect them, not to mention I don't like second chances in general. If they didn't happen first time around, not sure how I can be convinced it will work this time. Seeing this is ashley, I decided to plunge right on ahead and see how she can make this work. I guess in a way, it works, but this also is one of my least favorite of her work.

I actually went word searching all the colorado books, wondering where the H or h came from as neither name rings a bell. Little did I know H is from another series, and no wonder I didn't recall as I dnf that one.

The H was a real lothario, spreading his love quite thin and doing the coming and going as he pleased. The h let him and in the end left him after figuring out he will never change his ways. The reason I cannot see this as a usual ka is because H does not immediately do the pnr thing of locking into his one woman, declaring she and only she is special to him now, once she is located, but still running around and stringing her along knowing how much she cares for him and want something more. Now another of her H also did that sleeping around thing but he doesn't also have a more recent hang up, plus he didn't know her and build a lot with her to start with, so that I can deal with. This one also feels off because the h is more or less a doormat letting him use her and more or less just seeming quite desperate all through the first half with her unrequitted love. Not spunky and taking no shiat like the others. She doesn't see herself as being used or the H as self serving, but actually defends him, thinking the H is great and it is not right to change him...more power to her I guess...but I myself think a woman deserves more than a part time barely man that also has tons of others hanging off him no matter how great he is.

I really never like the H. It took him a short time to work out his game plan, but he seems to be hung up on so many women I just don't want to know the details. He explained why she is chosen but I guess I don't speak english well, his being totally unapologetic about it and convoluted explanation never got me, especially when said explanation told h that other woman means something to him and his next breathe said h means something to him. Ok putting your one on the par with another woman does not work for me. It does seem he never got out of his emotional stunt in his 30s, and he actually gave up after being with h for a few months knowing how great she is, then being on and off for years together with a basketful of others, that also doesn't work for me either, though I guess he was indeed there for her for most of the second half. He is very alpha and direct, but he is also not romantic in the least, at least to me. I seriously would prefer he shut up doing a very bad job convincing us why h is the only one for him and I also don't really see him working his arse off alaying her insecurities regarding these important issues. His gestures seem to always be kind and sweet anyways, so the only thing that is different now seems to be his promise to stick around, after saying the other woman is settled anyways, ok...so I just don't buy his she never was in the running thing especially when he also said he regret loosing her, argh, like he regret loosing our h, only difference being h is now available? I guess I should appreciate him being honest with her and that with his years, there would have been others and scars and the lot. But for some reason, I just don't get the sense that the h is the one for him, even though we are in his head and he said it real early on. I guess his speech just doesn't do it for me and maybe the h's doubts work too well, I just feel like he is settling.

The h I also cannot relate to. I just cannot stand being the recipient of a rubberband relationship, her not being the only one at that. It is even worst she tolerated it because she loves him and all. Plus I seriously want to smack her when she went to his bed, girl, get a backbone and get over the jackarse already! She kept insisting he is there for her when she needs him, I guess he is, but she also deserves a man that does not disappear for days in others' bed and only give you time when you are in serious trouble. She is an underachiever and seems to be grateful for so little it is a bit pathetic. I seriously do not like that. She also tears up like she is on pms or preggo all the time, especially when they were having a moment, as I am more of a cynical tougharse biatch and don't get what he said to be so very special, she just plain annoys me.

The plot is also not as interesting as previous ones, with not a lot going on and all pretty slow and no kidnapping murder or mayhem, pretty anitclimatic really as I kept expecting the villain to do something awlful. Most of the book focused on them as a couple, so as it just makes me mad when she takes whatever little crumbles he deigns to give out and is happy with that, I feel I am not really reading a standard ka one, or maybe it has been a while and I sort of overexpected things.

All in all, I guess with a H like that, only the h type will work for him, so I am glad they sorted things out in the end. I just don't feel the usual emotional umph ka delivers here, even though I did see the H being sweet to her for most part of the book. But I guess I am a word girl and I need those word to know h is special. His declaration came too late for me, especially when it only came after another long winded explanation on another past love why this is so. I feel like we are pulling teeth here and I just feel like saying, dude if it is so hard for you, don't bother.

So I am quite disappointed. ...more
