I love a good book binge. You wanna know what’s even better than a good book binge? When each book gets better and better as the binge continues! I’ve stuffed myself silly with these sweet ‘n saucy Aussies and I’m not even sorry. Trav might’ve been born a Texan but his blood is infused with red dirt now. It’s always a bit challenging to review “established couple series” books without spoiling much, but I’ll give it my best shot. Charlie and Trav may still be in the young love phase but they hav I love a good book binge. You wanna know what’s even better than a good book binge? When each book gets better and better as the binge continues! I’ve stuffed myself silly with these sweet ‘n saucy Aussies and I’m not even sorry. Trav might’ve been born a Texan but his blood is infused with red dirt now. It’s always a bit challenging to review “established couple series” books without spoiling much, but I’ll give it my best shot. Charlie and Trav may still be in the young love phase but they have settled into their relationship like pros on a bull. Charlie is busy, like never-enough-hours-in-the-day busy but it’s all good stuff. The station is doing well, his crew is doing fine and his Trav is better than fine.

Life is good. Until things start to slip sideways. Ma’s not feeling well and while Charlie may be the boss, she’s the captain of their ship. And a ship with a sick captain can lose its way in a hurry. Trav has to return to the states. It’s not for pleasure and Charlie longs to be at his side but unfortunately, it’s just not possible. That’s hard for Charlie to swallow because what if Trav forgets? What if he forgets the spectacular shows by the sun and the earthy aftertaste in the air or more precisely, what if he just plain forgets about Charlie? With Ma down and out and Trav away, Charlie feels some cracks forming. He’s gotta hold it together. Good thing he’s as stubborn as an ox. Giving up or giving in simply isn’t an option. Maybe his dad would be proud of him after all? *soft smile*

Their road continues but is far from over. I loved how not only their relationship has progressed but both Charlie and Trav have too. Ma, George, Trudy, Bacon, and the rest of the family continue to shine and it’s hard to tell who’s part of the first string and who’s part of the second anymore. All of the characters have made their mark and deserve a round of applause. A few new faces pop up and I have no doubt they’ll feel like family in the next one. However, the real show-stealer is most definitely a naughty little wombat. Nugget is just the cutest, especially wrapped around Charlie’s finger. I’m off to the final book with a spring in my step and an ignorant-yet-blissful smile on my face. I am enjoying them all so much, it’s going to be so hard to let them go.

Beware of: Spring in the Outback is a busy time…but some things stop time altogether. Family bonds are made of many things…blood is only one of them. Faith and trust are put to the test…but love doesn’t disappear just because you can’t see it.

This book is for: Red Dirt Heart fans like me! Or if you happen to be on the hunt for a down-to-earth loving bunch, please start at the beginning and I’ll race you to book 4!

I don't know is the answer.

I finished book 2 on 08/30/14 and book 3 was coming out on 10/17/14.

I even got it when it came out.

I am not sure why I never read it. There is no logical explanation.

I need to go see what I was doing in October of 2014, could be interesting.

Anyway, I have finally read it and it makes less sense why I waited so long. I was immediately right back into it. I was afraid I would have forgotten a lot but it was an easy adjustment.

This was book 3 in the "Red Dirt Heart" series. This was a pretty good read by and author that I love reading. The story continues between Travis and Charlie each one of them learning to deal with things that show up in like health, death of a family member and learning where home is. I love reading Ms. Walker's books I love her characters they are always lovable and kind I also love that they are not perfect, and, in this book, Charlie let his insecurities show. I love this series! Charlie has so many things thrown at him that I’m not sure at times that he could handle it. Things popped up that I didn’t see coming, and I can’t mention as it would spoil it. What really almost broke me was when Travis had to go back to the states because of his grandfather. Charlie was sure it was over. And here I thought Charlie had finally come to terms with the love from Travis. This was a great continuation of their love story. I have to run off to the next book in th ...more
