Balance isn’t always easy. Nic has mastered the fragile balance of cute and sexy. Charlie is still working on his balance though. Good thing he has Trav to help him. Or more to the point, good thing he has Trav period. They are working the farm together and seeing hearts while they do it. There’s nothing super mind-blowing, just normal everyday stuff. But I was overjoyed watching them do their stuff and can’t tell you how excited I am that I’m only halfway through this series. There’s something Balance isn’t always easy. Nic has mastered the fragile balance of cute and sexy. Charlie is still working on his balance though. Good thing he has Trav to help him. Or more to the point, good thing he has Trav period. They are working the farm together and seeing hearts while they do it. There’s nothing super mind-blowing, just normal everyday stuff. But I was overjoyed watching them do their stuff and can’t tell you how excited I am that I’m only halfway through this series. There’s something powerful about joining an established couple while they develop deeper and stronger connections. Charlie and Travis are well and truly in love. And this second step gave us more intimacy, more family, more passion, and more laughs.

Selfishly I’m going to make this short and to the point because time’s a-wasting and a certain speck of red dirt has gotten under my skin. Yes, book 3 is calling my name! Charlie is fumbling his way through building a relationship, this is all new territory for him. Travis is finding his footing, dancing the tricky balance of falling in love with the boss. Their obvious and undeniable feelings have overflown, flooding the station. There’s not a pair of boots there untouched by the changes happening at Sutton Station. The safety and the free-to-speak-your-mind blanket of the kitchen has spread to the entire farm. There’s no more hiding either. Charlie was finally released from the ghosts holding him back and now that’s he’s out, nothing and nobody is gonna push him back in.

This is a beautiful story of acceptance and revelations.
I loved the guys. I loved the family. And I absolutely adored Matilda.
And that’s a wrap, I really gotta see what this little Nugget is all about!

Beware of: Time is much like sand, and slips through your fingers, no matter how hard you try and hold it. Love can skim the surface or soak straight through to your bones. Accepting your truth is a mighty and powerful thing. AND…babies melt all hearts.

This book is for: If boot holding under the table and Eskimo kisses between two amazing cowboys sound like your cup of tea, slide on back to the beginning, for this is one ride you don’t want to miss.

I love Charlie and Travis. Poor Charlie is still waiting for his world to crumble. It’s a wonder he doesn’t have an ulcer as much has he worries about everything. What the other farmers will say, if Travis is going to leave him, etc. I am so happy to see that he finally leaves the closet in this one and tells all the homophobs off. Travis has such a wicked sense of humor. The scene at Woolworth’s had me laughing out loud. I can’t wait to see where this series takes us next.

This was book 2 in the "Red Dirt Heart" series. This was a pretty good read Charlie and Travis are complete opposites. Charlie also struggles with being out and open with his relationship. Charlie tries to push Travis away when Travis is threatened with deportation. I loved seeing each one of these characters grow. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. ...more

3.5 - 4 WALTZING MATILDA STARS!

I enjoyed this book but preferred book 1. This story for me was a plodder, as in I wasn't in a rush to find out what was going to happen. No real excitement or anticipation a bit of drama but nothing to get my speedy reading groove on and I did skim read bits of it (never a good sign). Because of these factors I couldn't give it a solid 4 star. ...more

This book was such a joy to read, from all the conversations Charlie had with his animals to his truly brave way of standing up for himself and Travis, perfection. Just simply wonderful.
