I loved the characters in this book,
Royal, he's tatted, sexy, tough, yet oh so broken by tragic events in his life, until Avalon, she's a little spitfire that ignites

Started out good, got great through the middle, then pettered out toward the end. Very emotionally charged story that could have been great but somehow it turned out to be just ok+. I think it was the dialogue and Avalon. She was a tad dramatic or something. Can't put my finger on it ,but she bugged me. Deep & Beautiful

First of all, before I can even properly review this book, I have to say that I love Josh Mario John. Everything about that man heightens every one of my senses. I'm not sure how many times that I went back and just stared at the cover; the story and the man were equally intriguing.

First of all, before I can even properly review this book, I have to say that I love Josh Mario John. Everything about that man heightens every one of my senses. I'm not sure how many times that I went back and just stared at the cover; the story and the man were equally intriguing.
I'm not sure if Royal covered himself in art to reveal his soul or to hide himself within his own skin. He was a contradiction ~ his raw anger, passion and grief were displayed by his reckless behavior and temper, but at the same time, he appeared so vulnerable and withdrawn. His story was heart wrenching; his loss immeasurable. Royal was one hella beautiful, deeply troubled, sexy alpha beast who needed to find something or someone to make him see that his life was still worth living.
Enter Avalon, the story's heroine, who had some pretty big shoes to fill. I have to give her credit; usually when there's a main character that has a larger than life persona, it's pretty easy to become invisible and insignificant. Not this chickie. She was his rock. Most of the time, the female lead gets on my last nerve. They're either too pushy and bossy, or whiny and clueless. Avalon really kept up with Royal. She was supportive and helpful, giving Royal a sense of calming peace. She was put through the wringer, mentally and physically, and took everything that Royal threw at her, turning it into something positive. The more she found out about his past and his secrets, some that he wasn't even aware of, she embraced and never gave up on him. For that, she gets my vote for girlfriend of the year. The supporting cast of characters added the perfect amount of depth to the story. Blaine (who's nuts!) and Jax were lovable characters as well as Avalon's Uncle Mark. They were fiercely loyal and protective towards Royal. I wasn't too crazy about Avalon's slutty, loud mouthed roommate, Madison. By the end of the book she grew on me; she finally behaved like the friend that Avalon needed her to be. There was also the issue of Colton and his family who I felt should have had either, more of an explanation of their hatred towards Royal, or been deleted from the storyline altogether. All in all, this book was brilliantly written by an extremely talented author. As soon as I started reading, I didn't want to put it down. I absolutely recommend this book ~ I'm giving it five whiskey shot-glass, stars ~

3 ROYALLY DISAPPOINTING STARS!

I was expecting great things for this book, granted it started as a real page turner but then I found myself skim reading and in the final 20% when in my opinion the story turned into bum clenching cheese infested fantasy I more or less skipped every other page.

I have been dying to read this book and was so happy that this book was chosen for our monthly buddy read in team. I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to read more from this author in the future.

Very good.

It took me a little while to get into this book. Maybe a few chapters where I just skimmed and then it started to get ready good and I couldn't put it down. Cried at some parts. Laughed a lot at some parts and loved every single part of this book that I read. First time reading from this author and wow. Just powerful and beautifully written. I enjoyed this audible version. Lorenzo Matthews has a fantastic narrator voice. Some books I just cringe at their voice. Samantha Cook pleasant voice as well.

Good story line. Flows well with no weird gaps
Spice level 🌶️
Ending feels a little rushed tying up loose ends quickly.
