3 1/2 KA "Walk Through Fire" Stars!

Well, where to begin... first off, overall, I liked it. The base of the story is very compelling and heartbreaking. I kept trying to place myself in Millie's shoes. You know, a what would you do? I couldn't come up with a solid answer. My 39 year old self said they could have worked it out. My 21 year old engaged self said I maybe would have done the same thing. It's a tough question for a young woman in love. When it seems all your dreams have been shattered.. 3 1/2 KA "Walk Through Fire" Stars!

Well, where to begin... first off, overall, I liked it. The base of the story is very compelling and heartbreaking. I kept trying to place myself in Millie's shoes. You know, a what would you do? I couldn't come up with a solid answer. My 39 year old self said they could have worked it out. My 21 year old engaged self said I maybe would have done the same thing. It's a tough question for a young woman in love. When it seems all your dreams have been shattered... So anyway, all that part of the book was great. I'm still, and I think I will be for a long time to come, a huge KA fan. I like her unconventional writing style. Her avid attention to detail and need to describe EVERYTHING thoroughly. (Yes, sometimes it's annoying.) And yes, even the repetition. It's just how she writes, and I'm good with that.

The problem I had with this one was the Chaos men, or shall I say teenage mean girls. The way they treated Millie was ridiculous. There is no way grown men, especially not supposedly badass bikers even keep you on their minds long enough to concoct the idea to behave like this. They wouldn't even give you the satisfaction of knowing you effected them in a way that would warrant this kind of bitchiness. Yes, they acted like some bitches. I've lost a lot of respect for Chaos because of this. I hope this kind of behavior will not be repeated in future books. I'm good with how Benito is being handled. Not the part with Rosalie though. No, that is just wrong.

The other part I did not like was how High had a kind of disdain for Deb, his ex. Though he repeatedly said she was a good woman, the way he talked about the way she dressed and lack of make-up (according to him) and her healthy eating and exercise was very wrong IMO. He didn't respect her choice or simply the fact that she was not the same kind of woman as Millie. Yet he stayed married to her for 13 years. I did not get that at all. I don't get how they stayed married for 13 years. Woman come in all different shapes, sizes, attitudes, personalities, hopes and dreams. And we all have a right to be who we are. It ticked me off because Deb was very cool. Which was great because this book did not need any Ex drama. One last thing on the "did not like" side of things. His reason for not going after joint custody of the girls was down right stupid and I can hardly believe a woman wrote that. Just stupid. It's not like Deb lived in a different state or even city. Doesn't he have a phone? And can theses things not happen on the weekend? That made no sense at all. *SMH*

Anyway, like I said, overall, I liked the story, but the devil is in the details. And some of the details were not so great IMO. Happy reading!

PS. There is a bonus chapter on KA's website that is to be read after you finish the book. It was a very nice addition to the story. I liked it!

Thus begins the story of the turbulent reunion of Millie & Logan - two people who fell in love at first sight 20 years ago, two people who had loved and planned for their future with a passion, two people who were both utterly destroyed when Millie walked away. In typical KA style, the plot is intricately woven including several characters from past books and the continued threat of danger from Benito Valenzuela. Logan, like all the badass Chaos men, is fierce, bossy, protective, and once he learns the reason Millie left him - determined to reclaim what he lost 20 years ago . . . no matter the cost. Millie is a woman that has just gone through the motions of living since leaving Logan. She is smart and successful but an empty shell inside - until Logan awakens the girl he fell in love with again. But for me, the stars of this book are the fierce women of Chaos - Tyra, Lanie, Carissa, Tab, & Elvira (while not technically Chaos, she's still a member of their posse.) This gang takes it upon themselves to get Millie & Logan back together . . . even after specific orders from their men to stay out of it! The results are sometimes catastrophic and often hilarious. The Chaos men don't stand a chance of controlling this posse of women as they set out to right a love gone wrong.

The road to reconnecting with lost love is often a long one, with twists and turns that can lift you up or rip you apart. Sometimes, love hurts. Sometimes, the measure of love is how much you're willing to give up. Sometimes, fairy tales turn into long nightmares. Sometimes, you have to walk through fire to get a second chance. Untamed is the story of Millie & Logan's second chance. It is poignant, heart-touching, & sexy as sin. A Must Read!

Maybe it's because I have been re reading all KA's old reads but this was plodder of a book, I was totally underwhelmed and if I hadn't of listened to it I fear that I would have rated it lower. Wanted to love it and get that KA high but for me it just didn't arrive. ...more

Really enjoyed the beginning, was anxious to find out just what was going on.
Later on things got a little too KA MC style for me. <- that's funny, right? It is a KA MC you're saying! But I'm still not sure if KA's MC men are MY style.
Can't quite get over the whole way they converse!
They say everything that needs to be said with 4 syllables and they're actually understood!

"Woman. Done. Hear?"

Don't get me wrong... Logan/High was HOT, but just a touch too alpha grunting for me at times.

First half was what I would expect from KA. the second half seemed to fizzle out a bit, but does leave a story line to continue in the next book.

Other chaos peeps make appearances and that's always a bonus. ...more

I didn't really like the beginning of this book, but it eventually grew on me and by the end, I loved it.
I loved "High". he's a great character and you cant help but fall in love with him. Millie, however, didnt thrill me. She was too much of a push over .... she had no back bone at all. I wasn't a huge fan of his kids either .... One of them was ok but the younger daughter was a little witch in training ... I pass on her. She ruined it for me a little.
