I don't know how to go about reviewing this book. I was VERY skeptical going into it. I know that child trafficking is a huge deal, but at the same time it's a very tough subject to write about and have it translate well, especially when what is- at it's heart- is a love story. Add to that the Italian mafia and well you have the makings of what could be a very corny, contrived and all around awful book. Another one to add to the best books I've read this year.
This held my interest from the first page, right through to the last page. It deals with human trafficking, Mafia, family relationships, loss & love. The character building was excellent. I admired Haven's strength & loved how her confidence grew. I didn't like Vincent at first but as the story progressed I understood him more. Dominic had a great sense of humour. Carmine, broken foul-mouthed Carmine, I adored him & when he spoke Italian ...more
