The Premise
Sophie got pregnant when she gave her virginity eight years ago to Zach Barrett Zach’s stepbrother, Ruger, walked in during the deed, leaving Sophie in no small amount of embarrassment. Afterwards, he helped her deliver her son, Noah - and their attraction was always there. Several dramas later, Ruger and Sophie stay in each other’s lives, trying to forget their feelings. The Good
MC romances to me, are all about the drama - jacked up soaps with characters that are different from my daily life. It’s escapist fantasy, and last but not least, it’s the thrill of a bad boy biker. Ruger fills that slot well (....heh.) One of their crucial differences is Ruger refusing to be faithful (seems to go against his life free motto) and Sophie’s emotional immaturity. Both are dealt with satisfactorily in my opinion and are written in a way that I can understand why they feel that way. The sex is a bit raunchy and very hot.

The Not so Good
Alot of what happened in the past between Sophie and Ruger we never get to “see” but we read a little about it - there were many scenes that I think I would have enjoyed had they been integrated into the story, even as a flashback. I think RL sacrifices character development on the altar of action and plot for the series instead. I would have liked to spend more time just getting to understand why Ruger loved Sophie, and why Sophie felt as if she were better than Ruger through alot of the story - perhaps a bigger hint of her life before Zach. While I appreciated hearing more about the MCs world, ultimately I feel it took away from the focus on Ruger/Sophie - there was too much happening to set up the next book. I left the story more focused on Em/Hunter and what would happen there.

The Bottom Line
This books builds nicely upon the foundation set up in Reaper’s Property and if you love MC books, this will work for you. ...more

Loved this. Better than book 1 in my opinion. Sophie totally kicks ass standing up to Ruger and not caving in to his demands she stay faithful but he gets to sleep around. She stayed true to herself and her son throughout the book. Her son was her number one priority which is how it should be. I usually judge books based on the hero, but in this case Sophie made the book for me. Highly recommend.

I absolutely love an author that can write in such a way that I lose myself in the story and be disappointed when it ends.

Ruger is just enough of an ass that you love to hate him. Sophie is a little on the weak side (IMO) but pulls it together towards the end. The secondary characters add to the story without causing confusion and taking away from the main story line. It bring forth a nice intro for the next book in the series, which can't get here fast enough. ...more

Really need an option for more stars!! I loved this book, could not put it down. Ruger is awesome, yes he can be a real douchebag, but he's honest about it, and he would do anything for Sophie and Noah. Sophie has some issues that she needs to work through. She is a fantastic mom. It wouldn't be an MC book if there isn't mayhem, murder, kidnapping, cover ups and some major butt kicking. ...more
