Loved this story! I love me a broken male, then along comes one single female to sooth his savaged soul. Love it... Only this time the female is just as broken as he is...

Jasper and Max have both suffered unimaginable tragedy, grief and abuse. They are both hiding behind a façade in order to protect their hearts and secrets. I loved how volatile their relationship was. They effected each other in ways neither of them expected could happen.

Nashoda Rose has taken us on a new journey with an introduction to the Scars of the Wraiths. Definitions from the author state that the Scars: Immortal warriors with capabilities derived from the senses: Trackers, Sounders, Healers, Tasters, Visionaries, and the rare Reflectors. All of these immortal warriors have an intricate ink/tattoo that can be called to life and fight battles with and for their warrior. This story introduces us to Max and Jasper and was truly the perfect start to this new Nashoda Rose has taken us on a new journey with an introduction to the Scars of the Wraiths. Definitions from the author state that the Scars: Immortal warriors with capabilities derived from the senses: Trackers, Sounders, Healers, Tasters, Visionaries, and the rare Reflectors. This story introduces us to Max and Jasper and was truly the perfect start to this new series of paranormal romance with very sultry erotic elements.
Max is a healer and has been living with the enigma Xamien ever since she was rescued from her imprisonment. Xamien has provided food, shelter and friendship while asking for nothing in return. Max always assumed once she was rescued she would take on a new identity and her captor would never find her again since the reason she was captured in the first place was to heal the disease that plagued him. Every day away from her captor was a day that Max got stronger both physically and mentally but she still had a ways to go before she felt secure in any sense of the word. One night after waking from a terrible nightmare Max is coming out of the shower when she literally runs in to Jasper Kyelin - the rogue Scar / assassin / mercenary. The next six months is a constant stream of x-rated dreams starring the rogue and the feeling of his presence around her even though she hasn't seen him since that first encounter. Then out of no where in the middle of the night when Xamien is not home, Jasper is pulling her out of her bed to supposedly save her from the "bad guys" but isn't Jasper one of them?
Jasper Kyelin is a Scar Sounder that lost part of his soul in 1902. He was tortured and brutalized to the point of his ink dying and it was all done for nothing because in the end the vampires still killed his baby sister while he was forced to watch. Without his ink Jasper had to become even stronger and more deadly then anyone else and that's when the legend of the rogue Scar was born. Jasper never shows emotions nor does he care about anyone but for some reason he keeps thinking about Max. This is the first book I have read by Nashoda Rose and this will not be the last book I read by her. I completely fell in love with this book and the author. She has a unique writing style that just brings out the storyline and characters that will captivate you till the very end.

I am huge paranormal fan and was excited to read a book by a new author. I was not disappointed by this book or author. You are taken on an intense and suspenseful ride that you will enjoy the moment you start reading t ...more

4 SPANKINGLY GOOD STARS!

I really enjoyed the first half of this book, but chuffing loved the last half!

Still don't know what Scars are and I don't care, the story was good and the need to get jiggy with Jasper is intense!
I love a mean cruel hero who has lost the ability to love, all hard and tough on the outside until he meets the one, then he's a gushness of mushness!

Take is Nashoda Rose’s first book in the paranormal genre. The books that Rose has previously written have all blown me away. Huge fan. So - when Take hit the scene I was excited to see the journey readers would be taken on. The first thing you find in Take is a glossary of terms to layout the type of paranormal characters. Now - had I read this prior to starting the book, I would have thought twice about reading the book. However - Rose has never let me down, so I turned the page.

Readers are taken into the lives of Jasper and Max. Both posses a chemistry that draws the characters together from the beginning. While their chemistry was the main focus of the book - it was a little ‘dull’. The story line was engaging to a point, but was predictable and fell flat. It just didn’t pack the punch I was looking for. Will it affect how I look at the authors books in the future?? No way. I plan on reading anything Rose releases. This just wasn’t the captivating writing I have come to love from this author. ...more
