God makes all our faces, did he laugh when he made me?

Does he make the legs that cannot walk abd eyes that cannot see?

Does he curl the hair upon my head 'til it rebels in wild defiance?

Does he close the ears of the deaf man to make him more reliant?

Is the way I look coincidence of just a twist of fate?

If he made me this way, is it okay, to blame him for the things I hate?

For the flaws that seem to worsen every time I see a mirror,

For the ugliness I see in me, for the loathing and the fear,.

The easiest five stars I have ever given this year. This book had so many depths and layers and also Ambrose is my first book boyfriend for 2018!

“If God makes all our faces, did he laugh when he made me?”

I don't even know how to begin to describe all the emotions that I had while reading this book. So many times growing up I often questioned whether life would be easier if I was prettier. I hate that anyone would have to feel this way but there is joy in looking on the inside of someone and seeing who they truly are and not just their physical appearance.

Fern has always liked Ambrose but he was way out of her league. When he comes back

Amy Harmon wrote a touching and poignant book that will suck you in and leave you gasping in shock and sadness and smiling in joy. Please -- I cannot stress this enough -- read this. ...more

I'm really picky about books I read sometimes. I had this book on my wish list for a while and soon as the price dropped i got it. I like instabonds probably because that's what I write about. This was not one of those books. I laughed and cried a lot because I could feel the emotion of the characters. At one point I was flat out sobbing. Well written and beautifully executed. ...more

What a fabulous book. I loved all the characters. Have tissues ready. Ambrose comes back from Iraq as a broken man. One woman's love for him helped him heal. A must read.

I am seriously obsessed with Amy Harmon's style of writing. She never ceases to make me laugh, cry, and somehow feel whole again. And the chemistry between the characters, whether romantic or platonic, is simply perfect. I need to one-click all of her books! ...more
