Me gustó el libro pero sentí que no fue un 5 estrellas.

La trama del libro me pareció interesante e Isla, una buena protagonista. Sin embargo, en la mitad el libro se tornó repetitivo e inclusive, aburrido. Se pasaron 200 páginas buscando cosas que NO encontraban y la trama no avanzaba.

I've now finally read Lightlark by Alex Aster, and I ended up giving it 4 stars—though I’m honestly still undecided. The more I think about it, the more my opinion might change. It’s definitely not a 5-star read for me right now, but I can totally see why it became so popular.

When I first started reading, it reminded me of Caraval just because of the Centennial aspect, but that similarity didn’t really go beyond the setup. Later, the world started giving me ACOTAR vibes, and maybe if I think abo I've now finally read Lightlark by Alex Aster, and I ended up giving it 4 stars—though I’m honestly still undecided. The more I think about it, the more my opinion might change. It’s definitely not a 5-star read for me right now, but I can totally see why it became so popular.

When I first started reading, it reminded me of Caraval just because of the Centennial aspect, but that similarity didn’t really go beyond the setup. Later, the world started giving me ACOTAR vibes, and maybe if I think about it more, I’ll find even more parallels. But weirdly, that didn’t bother me. The similarities never felt like plagiarism because the ideas were expanded beautifully by the author.

Now for the things I didn’t love—first, the time skips. I felt like they disrupted the flow, especially since the chapters were short but somehow still managed to drag in certain places. It made the pacing feel off even though the book itself was fast-paced. I didn’t put it down for long once I started, but at the same time, I struggled to feel truly connected to the characters.

Speaking of characters, let’s talk about Isla. I had moments where I really liked her, and overall, I still do—but wow, sometimes she made such frustrating decisions. I’m hoping we get to see more development from her in the next books because I’m definitely planning to continue the series.

And okay, let’s address the love triangle. I actually love a good love triangle if the tension is just right, but this one caught me off guard. I picked a side early on, and after the ending, I don’t think anything could change my mind, because what worse can he do (i actually dont even wanna know)? My heart totally broke for him though. But i still have high hopes. The anxiety I felt about the possibility of Isla ending up with the other guy? Unmatched. Speaking of the ending—what even was that? Wild. I saw part of it coming, but I still felt shocked.

Spoiler alert: I knew Celeste was either going to betray Isla or die—or both—and of course, that’s exactly what happened. I also figured out a few smaller details, like Grim knowing Isla was powerless when he suggested eating the heart in her rooms because he can sense emotions. As for Isla being powerless in general, I get why it had to be that way, and I’m not really complaining about it.

One thing I did really enjoy about this book was the world-building. The Wildlings and their powers were so intriguing, and I honestly wish we had gotten more about their lives and history. That’s probably one of the things I’m most excited to explore if the author expands on it in future books.

Overall, this book was a fun, fast read with plenty of twists. It’s not perfect—there were flaws in pacing and character depth—but it kept me hooked, and I’ll definitely be continuing the series. ...more

Good book and easy and fun to get through
The storyline was rly good and interesting
I had never read a book like this before so it was cool
Just had lots of things happening and kinda confusing at times

Defi recommend to fantasy and/or YA readers!
