Every book in the Duncan Kincaid/Gemma James offers a crash course on some part of London and its history of change. Occasionally, there is another part of England and even Scotland in the mix, but Deborah Crombie usually has the action and mystery occurring in and around the different areas of London. A friend of Hazel’s husband Tim has gone missing, months after his wife has also disappeared. Tim calls Duncan for help. Thus begins another case in the Kincaid/James household, which takes them into the world of art galleries, gentleman’s clubs, council estates, and the rich multi-culture world of London. Meanwhile we learn a bit more about Gemma’s sargeant Melody, and see more of Gemma and Duncan’s extended family.

I always enjoy the Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James books.
