This is such a good read-aloud to upper-elementary classes because of the engaging plot, memorable setting, and the unique characters’ perspectives. Students are immediately hooked by the protagonist’s voice and repetitive phrases. The humor that is present throughout allows for comedic relief in what can, at times, be a heavier story of loss and change.
