This was creepy and unique and the story was so interesting to me that I didn't even care about the romance aspect of the book. And I liked the unhappy ending, even if it was due to a cliffhanger.

What a fantastic read. Especially for a primarily YA fantasy. I connected so much with our main character and I loved her budding relationship with Ravyn. 🥹 I could go on and on about this story, the gothic atmosphere, the romance, the plot and the magic. All of it was absolutely wonderful.

I really enjoyed this! The plot was compelling and unique. I liked the dark nursery rhymes woven throughout and the magic system was interesting. My only complaint would be that the characters were kind of meh. The most interesting one is the Shepherd King and I’m not sure he even counts as a character. The love story aspect felt forced and Ravyn is kind of boring (also his name being spelt like that is eye-roll). At the end I was kind of rooting for the Shepherd King and don’t really care what

I heard so much hype for this book so my expectations were too high. I hate reading rhyming poetry but it was bearable in this book. The world and the card feels magical but I feel no actual connection to the characters. I didn't feel the chemistry between the FMC and MMC.
The only interesting character I would've like to know more about is the Nightmare, Elm, and Emory.

This was so good! Awesome plot and world building and really likable characters. I’m obsessed.
One of the best books I’ve read in some time. I’m traveling and finished it en route. I’ve looked for the second book in every bookstore in the Bozeman and Denver airports and they don’t have it. I suppose I’ll have to wait til tomorrow for Amazon to drop it off when I’m home.
Stuck between rating a 4 or 5 so def 4.5 star read for me, loved the story line and can't wait to read the second book!
