liz buxbaum loves rom-coms. so, when her childhood crush returns their senior year, she thinks this is the perfect opportunity to live out her own rom-com story. to get his attention, she teams up with wes, her next-door neighbor she’s hated forever. but the more time she spends with wes, the more she realizes that maybe he isn’t so bad, after all.

i’ve wanted to read this for so long, and i’m so glad it lived up to my expectations! even though i didn’t know any of the rom-com movies referenced i

This book was adorable and so so so entertaining!!

I loved everything about it! The characters (especially Helena, I love her), the enemies to lovers, the song references, the movie quotes, all of it was so so amazing!

I really loved the chemistry between Liz and Wes and their relationship progressing felt very natural and not rushed or forced. The enemies to lovers and fake dating tropes were amazing and I loved every minute of it. Even the slight angst was perfect.
The character development that Liz had to go through was great to read and it was nice to see her be able to move on and let new people in.

There is so much lying, miscommunication, and school dynamics.

It was cute nonetheless.

Fake dating and enemies to lovers are two tropes that I love to read about, and the combination of these two was amazing! I love Wes, and I absolutely loved the chapters from his POV (not included in the book, but they are on Lynn Painter's website). I can't wait to read the second book Nothing Like the Movies! ...more
