Stephanie Garber's books take me back to a time where I was able to read for hours. This is something that I think a lot of readers can relate to: when we were young(er), we were able read for an eternity long. Nowadays it is hard to focus on what we're reading and our phone is constantly in the back of our minds.

If anything were to bring me back from the dead, it would be this series. The experience of reading this book is purely something between ethereal and dreamy that no words from the dictionary could ever describe. I’m going insane just thinking about it right now, as if I was in a coma and woke up with my head hazy.

Everything this book has to offer is perfect, not a single flaw. The plot, the characters, down to the intri ♾️ stars! “Jacks no longer felt like her enemy, he felt like her home.”

If anything were to bring me back from the dead, it would be this series. The experience of reading this book is purely something between ethereal and dreamy that no words from the dictionary could ever describe. I’m going insane just thinking about it right now, as if I was in a coma and woke up with my head hazy.

Everything this book has to offer is perfect, not a single flaw. The plot, the characters, down to the intricate details. The idea that a fate could kill any girl with a kiss except his one true love is so magical and intriguing, almost like footsteps you can’t help but follow out of curiosity. Stephanie Garber’s writing just instantly pulls you in, she paints such a vivid image in your head using words that are mystical. Her writing has a nostalgic feel to it deeply rooted in magic and fantasy. As soon as I begun reading, I couldn’t bring myself to stop like there was some sort of magnetic force. I read the entire book in 14 hours, though I wish I took my time because I never wanted it to end. (You can probably tell how much this book impacted me because of the amount of times I used metaphors similar to the author’s writing haha)

Jacks and Evangeline are THE ultimate love story I dream of telling my children about. Their love is so powerful, it was radiating out the pages of the book. The fact that Jacks would literally do anything for Evangeline let alone risks his life in exchange for hers is just so heartwarming. He goes out of his way to say that his actions towards her are acts for his benefit only and not hers but we all know actions speak louder than words. He can say he doesn’t care or love her but his actions show the opposite either way. Their relationship is enemies to friends to lovers but the spark and sexual tension was always there since the very beginning, even when they’re bickering you can hear the love in their words.

Jacks is so complex but he is the key ingredient to the creation of such a fantastic story. Evangeline is too, she portrays the desire that many young girls feel for the longing of finding their one true love. In another words, girls who are hopeless romantics and read romance novels to maybe feel what it’s like to fall in love, knowing the real world might not ever give us the chance because nothing will ever compare to fictional men like Jacks. In honesty, this series focuses mainly on the topic of love and how love is such a powerful force that it could destroy or mend us. Accurate to in real life as love plays an important role to many of our lives, all the way to building relationships to how we make our decisions every day.

I swear I hadn’t meant to make my review hit so deep but I can’t help myself, I love this book too much ahh. I might be writing an essay at this point lmao. However, if you haven’t read this book, please stop what you’re doing and pick this book up, you won’t regret it. If it were down to me only recommending one book, I would choose this in a heartbeat. I seriously cannot wait for A Curse For True Love I need Eva and Jacks to get their happily ever after no matter how many infinite endings it takes !! ...more

I loved once upon a broken heart and this one was 1000000x better!!! I’m obsessed with the setting of these books. It’s cute whimsical fairytale vibes without being childish. And JACKS. I would have loved more from his pov but sometimes that ruins a good enemies to lovers so I won’t complain. The way the ending was written was so clever and left off on the worst cliffhanger(in the best way) I cannot believe I have to wait until September to know what happens!!!!!

i enjoyed this a thousand times more than once upon a broken heart. if you know me well, you’re quite aware with my obsession for mutual forbidden longing and angst. this ticked all my boxes—and how could it not with that “there is nothing of equal value to me” line?
