I live for the Paekai banter i also found it funny how they were chained to each other for most of the book. This book was definitely less plot and more relationship development between Pae and kai which I honestly didn't mind. There were times when it got a bit repetitive though but the writing in this one was much better than powerless

I’ve been putting off writing this review because no words can do anything Lauren writes justice but here we go.
This book was incredible from start to finish, and I’m so surprised some people didn’t like it. This was almost as good as Powerless in my opinion, I just feel like there could have been more fantasy aspects instead of so much romance. I do not know what to do with my self after reading this book. Lauren’s writing definitely improved since when she wrote Powerless and it felt much ...more

the dialogue was a lot less repetitive than powerless which was great but the plot was boring and not as good as the powerless plot

I had that ending in the back of mind multiple times. I enjoyed this book, definitely not as much as the first only because I needed a change of scenery. It was 80 percent in the desert and Dor so sometimes It got a little repetitive. The emotional rollercoaster this book put me on though, so many times I was crying at the confessions each of them were making to one another. Kai and paedyns banter 100 percent too
